6 port shutter
I just finished up my s4 intake swap on the SA and have noticed that the rear 6 port actuator pin pulses in and out maybe 0.5mm. The part that the actuator turns to turn the sleeve. Im curious if this could be a worn sleeve pin or if maybe the pin missed the sleeve a bit and is just kind of wedged in there .
Everything turns ok and the idle drops a bit when i press the plungers so it seems the sleeves are turning freely. Any thoughts? Id hate to have a piece get sucked into the engine. |
They do that.
My SE and the 88 GXL 6 port actuators "click" at idle. They are just worn is all. |
I just recall reading about pineapple sleeves coming apart and trashing engines. Ive had six 2nd gens and have never seen this. The SE LIM didnt pulse. I guess ill just not worry about it unless it gets worse.

I even took the sleeves out and replaced them with the atkins 1 piece high flow actuator sleeves and they still did it. I think the linkage on the pod itself is whats worn out. |
I sprayed fluid to test for vacuum leakage from the rod and no idle dips. I guess Ill quit worrying about it and just drive it. Ill have pictures soon. Its a pretty nice upgrade over the blocky looking RE-EGI manifold. I even took the time to sand down the casting on the ribs and polish them for a nice contrast. I used some RX8 parts in my work too..
