6 Port Bridge Port
 

I found a 6 port Bridge Port for sale with 15k on it for $1600

The bridge does not cut into the water jacket so this motor should last just a little shorter than a street port if I dont take it over 8.5-9k rpms correct?

What I know:
Its an S5 block
The primary and secondary intake ports have a large SP, the auxillary ports are bridge ported, and the exhaust is race ported. It had hardened stationary gears, modified for the type 2 bearings that are installed. The front and rear oil pressure regulators are shimmed for ~95 psi. All seals were replaced during the rebuild/porting.
It has oil mods and new bearings that are good for 10K, but the rotating assembly wasnt rebalanced. It is a matched rotating assembly from mazda, so it should be fine to 9500 or even 10K on a limited basis.
If I went carb I would need a pressure regulator.

What I want to know:
Will the S5 block bolt in with my SE front cover?
Are there any other differences between a S5 block and my SE block?
What Carb and Intake Manifold would work best on this?
Will the RB Dual Street Port exhaust work with the header ported (thats what he did)?
How long will the motor last if I dont go over 8500 rpms?
Any other info and things I would need to put this in my SE.

you dont want that engine. give me the contact info of who ever has it so i can keep that engine away from everyone....it will fit fine. the best cab to in my opinion to go with would be a 48mm ida carb. you should be fine in the 8.5 to 9 range. remember the s5 has a factory redline of 8 grand. the differences- lighter rotors, higher compression the water seals are in the end plates insteaad of housing. um....minor shit. it will work. it would also be a good idea to get a verry light flywheel to help with the loss of lowerend power. to get the full power you MUST run a dual primary exhaust

The main reason why the N/A S5 had a 8,000 rpm redline was because of VDI.

um, ok. so if i put a vdi on my 12a i can automaticly make more power at 8000 rpm?

Yes.

51 IDA would be best but you could use a sidedraft size 48+.

Yes. It'll work quite well. but you need a high flowing rear muffler like a Magnaflow 6" round 2.5" diameter straight thru.

Should last a LONG time. I bet your HP peak will be right around 8500rpms though.

Need high flow exhaust (loud), good MSD ignition, big carb, tune it on the dyno so you'll get the most out of your $$. Gas mileage is around 10-14 and the motor will kick and buck under 3000rpms due to exhaust-gas-dilution sucking exhaust into the intake charge.

I'd ask for a receipt for all new parts to be sure you're getting what he's advertising. I've seen several motors that supposedly had new this and that but in fact had used junk in there.

Would a holley setup work well on this motor? Or is weber the way to go? Down Draft or Side Draft?
I would think the secondaries would help gas milage and drivability around town.

You can't beat the versatility and ease of adjustment that comes with the Weber. Use either a 48IDA or 51IDA if you can get one.

Best option though would be to inject it. Really helps with driveability on ported engines and gives you a better powerband.
