6 port
ok I took a good look under my hood today and I found 2 hoses that aren't connected. both are near the bottom of the dynamic chamber... at the base of the curved metal intake tubes. one is about 1 inch thick and comes out the back.....and the other is a tiny hose a little further down. neither are connected. also I looked at my main converter and on the passenger side there is a small hole(about 1/2 inch) where I can see straight throught to the inside of the converter. is it pretty safe to say that the 6 port is not opening?

Interesting, sounds like somebody cutoff your backpressure tube.
I have a similar cat, but I am going to take it to a muffler shop to have them put the backpressure tube back on. I bought the correct flange from Racing Beat. For an awsome explanation of the auxiliary ports and making them work, read the post by LongDuck on this thread: Auxiliary Port Actuators It is only a few days old...but he really lays it out for you...the how, the why, etc. His post is toward the bottom. |
so what are my options other then buying the parts from a wrecker??

You can pick up the actuators at a salvage yard (I did), and much of the setup, just not the back pressure pipe or flange. If you buy a flange from RB, you can then have a shop add the tube to your cat. The intermediary tube is another matter...ask somebody with a parts car if they will sell you one. I just bought an entire cat and backpressure tube for $40 (because I needed it, or I would give it to you) out of somebody else's parts pile. |
My cats are rusted through...yep...all 3! Well I've been checking out the Bönez catalytic which has that little air supply tube included...
