45 DCOE on a stock 6 port 13b?

Just wondering what can I expect from a weber 45DCOE on a stock port S5 13b with FD housings will the carb be enough for the motor this is the carb I have at the moment and I do not have the money to buy anything bigger than that.

If its all you have then it really does not matter.

That having been said, it will do fine. It would benefit from a little more flow and my guess would be a 48 or 50 would be better depending on what you will be using the car for, but the 45, imoh will be fine.

What rwatson5651 said. I'll be doing the same thing since I have a 45 DCOE with 40mm venturis sitting around and a (nearly) stock 6-port 13B in my REPU. I wish it were a 48, but it'll do until I go EFI. I've been using it on a streetported 4-port 13B for the last few years and it's got decent enough power.

Its mostlly going to be a DD and a mountain run or two every now and then. This is going into my gsl-se with a s5 na trany to help with highway cruising no serious track monster or anything like that I wish I would have gotten a 50dcoe my friend has but he wanted a little more for it than what I had at the time now ofcourse I regret it but oh well.

You probably would not be happy with the 50 dcoe for a daily driver. You would have better flow but likely worse drivability. The larger the throat of the carb the more difficult to get the exact right tune. The sidedraft setups on our cars have long intake runners and this adds to the carbs tendancy to bog upon acceleration, which gets old fast. Better to have a carb that may not be the absolute best @ 8 grand but better just off idle and up through the lower rpm range, much more satisfying to drive.

2cts.

Yeah that's more or less what I'm lookning for it will see the high rpms but not for any extended amount of time. Well I guess all that's left to start and finish this thing and oh yeah I got 6 weeks and the motor isn't even in the car yet.

Actually with a 50, it will run good so long you changed the venturies to match your driving habit. For the 45, i will run it without venturies to give it a little more kick

Anybody know where I can find a diagram of what's what on one of these things.

I am running a 48 dellarto on a 6 port right now as a dd and i love it. yes getting the tune correct was a bitch and found going to 39 chokes really worked well for all around drivability but did not kill the top end still pulls hard to red line.
Just run a header and presilencer and good flowing muffler and you are good to go.

this one I have is the mazdatrix unit comes preset for a 6port motor so hopefully it won't give me too much crap when I go to start it up since due to a lack of extra cash to put in the car if it don't work it will have to stay in the garage a bit longer.

snivley whiplash's dellorto was the best driving 2 barrel I've ever driven. I'd like to help make PercentSevenC's weber run as nicely on his 6 port.

rotarycrazy 02-23-12 01:51 AM

I had one of those and like an idiot sold it for next to nothing since I broke one of the idle adjustment screws off.

thanks for the nice comments jeff20b. I spent a lot of $ making it run correctly. it currently has 20k on the rebuild and runs just the same.
