4.44 gears need info on where to find
 

I was told that those gears can be found on the mazda pickup so I just needed to know the following....

Model
year
2 wheel drive or 4 if that makes a diff?
which axle if it's a 4?

what else would be needed for this swap?

Yoou may also want to check Kia Sportage, they come, as far as I know, with 3 different gear ratios, 4.44, 4.78 and 5.14...where specifically, dont know for sure...But if you see that many of the pickups are being gutted for these gear ratios, try the kia sportage (korean company for mazda and the rear ends are virtually interchangeable)...

Yeah, I've heard this too. The front axle of a 87-88 mazda b2200(or 2600, dont remember) 4x4, 5 speed, and this model only, is the one that has the 4.444 gears. At least, I'm pretty sure, anyway.
Actually, grassroots motorsports did an article mentioning this a few months back. Junkyard score!, or something like that.

That should be all you need for the swap. From there, you disassemble both rears and put the old rx7 3rd member back together using the new gears and thats it. Although you might want to measure the..err... the "play" (I forget what it's called) between the gears on the 4x4 axle, and set it accordingly on the new rear.

Backlash, I believe it's called.

I forgot, you might want to also check out the Mazda MPV's....I am not sure of their ratios, but they are also interchangeable as well...
