3rd member options for gsl-se housing?

I am picking up an 84-85 gsl-se rear end complete with brakes and everything except the 3rd member today. I believe I read somewhere that the 94+ miata 1.8 3rd member will work with the 84-85 gsl-se. Can anyone confirm this? Preferably I'd like to findicate either a torsen or viscous clutch 3rd member but may be willing to compromise for now with an open diff. Can anyone confirm 3rd members that will work with this rear end (specifically the 94+ 3rd member)?

quick answer is yes, the 1994-2005 miata uses the same style diff. the big difference is that the miata has the mount for the power plant frame

94-97 is a 4:10, either open or Torsen

99-05 is 4.30 with a 5 speed, or 3.9 for the 6 speed. also open or torsen.

Hah thanks! I actually don't even have a miata or fb. I have a 70 Datsun Roadster that the fb rear end is going in. Maybe you can convince me to go rotary swap too.

No worries. :) I limited the search to Miata because that was what you said you were interested in. There are other options if you are interested them, too.

Besides, I don't have to convince you. You've touched an Rx-7 part and it will, in turn, touch your Datsun. It's simply a matter of time now before the insanity fully sets in. ;)
