3" inlet muffler with dual tips?

By any chance does anyone know of a 3" muffler with dual tips that will stand up to the rotary heat/pulses?

Looking for a muffler for the widebody that has a similar to stock look but will flow alot more. Looking on the magnaflow website it looks like most of the street mufflers are 2.25 inlets, only options with 3" inlet has a single 4" outlet. Enlarged exhaust tips are illegal in my location so I don't want to go that route.

Interesting that you linked to this. I was looking at one similar a little bit ago, I guess just what scares me is the fact that it is made by vibrant. How has yours held up?

el_rotary 11-06-09 01:21 AM

Wow, good find thafox. I have been looking for a muffler like the one you mentioned for some time now, any sound clips of your exhaust?

thafox 11-06-09 06:46 AM

It's held up good so far I'll try and post a clip on YouTube this weekend.... I think tho it would be super loud if I had 3" straight but Ive got a moroso spiral muffler comming off the dowpipe then it goes back to the vibrant muffler

Dan_s_young 11-06-09 06:58 AM

I think i'm going to go this route, deffinately the style of muffler I want. Not too expensive either. I'm going to run a 3" racing beat presilencer.

I know Aaron Cake has nothing but praise for the Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator on his HBP. I'm a little concerned that they don't say what the packing material is, but I guess Aaron Cake's is holding up.

Magnaflow has a few options, such as this:
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8176
But they are expensive.

Borla has one:
http://www.borla.com/proxs/pages/muflrdual.php
But you'd need to weld the tips on yourself, and the one I got wasn't very well made. (Does muffle well, though.)

Here's some pictures and a video of the magnaflow percentsevenc posted thanks to tallbozo.

I'm looking for the same thing Dan. I was thinking the RB universal muffler and have tips welded on. Or a dump style, but that wouldn't work for you since its illegal.

The inlet on that Magnaflow is only 2.25". The Borla has the right pipe diameters, but the tips are too far apart to look right on an FB.

I went throught this same drill a few years ago, and I decided to go with a single tip Magnaflow. It does change the look a little, but I think it's OK.

X2, I ordered the vibrant muffler through my work, $156. But it's going to be 4-6 weeks :(. I will post up some pictures when it arrives.

Good eye elwood. I thought it said either 2.25" or 3" inlet/outlet. I'm going to go with the rb universal.

BlackWorksInc 11-07-09 07:21 PM

What about an oval outlet tip? not too big, kinda like you'd see on a stock vette or 350?

Hmm, you're right. Looking at it again, they do have some 3" inlet, dual 2" or 2.25" outlet mufflers, but they don't come with tips.

I agree, the dual-outlet Borlas do look strange. Just thought I'd throw it out as an option. Might look better with tips welded on.

So yeah, the Vibrant seems like the way to go. Definitely post vids when you get it installed, Dan. I'm curious how it sounds.

I sent vibrant a E-mail and it is stainless wool w/high temp cotton. here is the response I recieved.

In response, the packing that we use in our mufflers is a stainless steel wrapped, high temperature cotton packing (see picture).

Please feel free to contact me should you have any other questions or concerns.

Interesting, how does the packing in say a racing beat muffler compare??

elwood 11-20-09 06:07 PM

I don't think "high temperature" and "cotton" belong in the same sentence.

84stock 11-20-09 08:24 PM

I use an aero muffler, been very pleased with it. http://www.aeroexhaust.com/index.php...er-y-pipe.html

Dan_s_young 11-20-09 09:16 PM

From racing beats website:
The internal core of the REV30 features a stainless-steel perforated tube, surrounded by tightly packed ceramic wool material. This high temperature ceramic wool provides superior sound suppression.

power pulse muffler:
packed internally with stainless steel and ceramic material, utilizing a perforated internal stainless steel pipe

rotaflo:
Full re-packable design. Hand Built. 1.6mm Mild steel construction. Deep sounding combination stainless steel/glass pack

To me it sounds like this vibrant muffler is somewhat similar in design...

2GSLSE 11-20-09 09:59 PM

I don't really know how it will hold up to the rotary heat but just wanted to know about the internals before trying one for myself.

Dan_s_young 12-16-09 07:42 AM

Got my muffler yesterday, the look is deffinately what I want. I dislike how the Vibrant logo is on the top of each tip though...

The muffler seems pretty solid and is a straight through design. I will keep you guys posted of what it sounds like when the rest of my exhaust is installed, hopefully it can handle the heat. I still need to get a racing beat presilencer.

el_rotary 12-16-09 09:00 PM

Yeah they also make a polished muffler same style but with 3.5 inch dual tips...let me know how it ends up sounding. Im waiting to buy mine, I already have the 3 inch Racing Beat presilencer though.

looks nice! I didn't think they looked very good on their site, but it really turned out!

ourxseven 02-02-10 04:43 PM

Dan, you get that Vibrant fired up yet ????

How's it sound ?

Dan_s_young 02-02-10 04:51 PM

I'm waiting on some 90 degree bends (stainless steel), and then I can get all of the exhaust tig welded together. I am also running a RB universal (large) presilencer, so I am pretty excited to see how it sounds as well. I will let you know!

ourxseven 02-24-10 07:11 AM

get that thing fired up yet ??
