200rwhp 13b Na

Custom 13B NA
12A Side & Int. Plates
GSLSE Rotor Housings
S5 Rotors - possibly ceramic coated
Carbed

How difficult would it be to tune this motor to 200RWHP with a large streetport and still have a nice wide powerband? Is it possible without a bridge?

Alex-7 04-25-05 04:28 PM

If perfectly tuned it'd be atainable I bet. Even if not, you'll be damn close and very happy.

I'd say you'd deffinatley hit 200 (or more) and have a better power band with a standalone.

hmm but how much more money would a standalone setup cost?

Dom_C 04-25-05 04:41 PM

what intake manifold do you use or can you use, if you use 12a endplates?

Elysian 04-25-05 04:57 PM

dom u can use the 70s 4 port 13B intake manis from racing beat if u want, holley or weber style, and if u wanted to go fuel injected itd be easy... or if u go turbo just use a TII manifold

Dom_C 04-25-05 05:01 PM

not sure if i'd be going turbo or not, but I would still want to use the turbo intake manifolds. So they would bolt up the the 12a plates? that would be awesome.
Dom

Elysian 04-25-05 05:52 PM

chances are if they aren't a direct bolt up it will work with minimal modification, but i haven't personally done this only read other peoples experiences

Siraniko 04-25-05 06:22 PM

TII intake manifold is not a straight swap to an old 4port engine. I spent a few hours grinding/welding/drilling. its done and ready to go but I decided to get a custom turbo header so I have more flexibility on the choice of carb. But my major problem is: Cant find time to work on my own cars.

I'd look into researching RX-8 Rotors for a higher compression ratio if your running an N/A Carb'd setup. I'd then probably go with a Weber setup. For 200RWHP, you'd probably need a very large SP or a Partial Bridge if you did it N/A. Unless you used RX-8 rotors.

Just my thoughts, I've been thinking of building a similar motor.

rx8 rotors are tailor made for the side port exhaust ports... not to mention they have much shorter apex seals and no room in the rotors to be milled out for any other apex seals but stock...

Well, I have a streetported S4 13B NA (6 port) that supposedly dyno'd at 150 RWHP with stock unmodded FI system. Injectors needed cleaning too. This is according to the last owner of the engine. Those engines according to RB can make 180 FWHP with just switching to a holley 600. With porting, depending on size and other factors, a 6 port engine is deffinately capable of 220 hp with good tuning. I'm guessing my engine will make 200-220hp when I rebuild it. Not sure what 4 port 13B's make though.

The_7 04-26-05 10:12 AM

i always thought that the 4 ports had the potential to flow more from porting....?

I've yet to see any proof of this with street porting.

My 6-port S5 makes 170 rwhp in Colorado dynoed. Air density is about 17% less than sea level. At sea level, that's going to be very close to 200 rwhp. Stock intake and injectors with an aftermarket EMS.

Elysian 04-26-05 11:11 AM

i might put my 6 port street port on a dyno one day when i get the fuel injection setup... but then again i might not put it on the dyno till i got the fuel injection setup and a sweet turbo setup as well, we'll see..

pretty sure a t2 manifold wouldnt bolt up or any 2nd gen mani for that matter. any of the 70s 4 port weber/holley manifolds would work though.
