Well i would like to say hi!

Im new to the RX-7 / Rotary world. i saw a red FB on the freeway once and fell in love with the looks. So i want one of my own eventually but as of now im a poor college student. i joined a couple weeks ago and wasnt able to go online for a while but since i have time now thought i would say hi and hope to join all you RX7 fans soon. When i get it i plan on mostly auto-X. Mostly a fun weekend warrior.Hoping to learn alot since this would all be relativaly new to me. thanks for you time and teach me well, lol. :icon_tup:

Welcome!! You are definetly in the right place to learn about Rx7's. This forum has an infinite amount of knowledge available. The most important thing is to search, use the FAQ section, and search some more.
Most every topic has been covered. Sometimes you will run into a problem or topic with no thread. In this case, always feel free to post. FB's are great car's, they are especially great if you have limited funds. They are also very easy to work on and modify.
I caught the bug about 8 years ago. 6 Rx7's and alot of fun later, my hobby is going strong.......

Hi 12aSlider, (BTW GREAT NAME!!!) I iz n00b 2, and these guys are great with sharing of the knowledge. It's like having 1000's of mechanics will to answer questions with only a hint of snarkyness. :)

It shouldn't be too hard to find a decent example for around $1,000 - that way, you'll have lots of money to spend on upgrades.

These are nice, fun, great handling cars. Easy to wrench on so you can save all that money for buying books - that is what college students spend money on these days right?

This forum is one of the best reasons to buy an RX-7, great community, great community support, and great people.

i go to a tech school. i spend about 1k just on one class. haha. going for my 3d animation bachlors(aka video games.) haha but that 1k does include books.

Welcome! I was in your place a while back. With my love for 80's cars, and a passion for unique ideas, led me to the RX-7. When I joined the forum I was rotary-less, but after a lot of saving I was able to purchase one. The day I signed the papers, was next to one of the happiest days of my life. It is a very fun vehicle, and no matter how you feel at the time, you never get bored with driving it. Later I was involved in an accident, sadly it was totaled. But I walked away.

This is a great community, listen to them, they have saved me from many car problems, and the monetary issues that come.

Welcome, I bought my '85 GS for 1250....but after the overpriced tune-up and repairs...I'm at about twice that. However its a solid car with a straight body and a strong engine. The only things I need to do are paint it and replace the tailpipes......but yeah, check craigslist for your area and I'm sure you'll find a decent running example of the original rotary sports car styling.

Welcome to the forum and the Darkside. Rotarys are like Lays Potato Chips, you can't have just have one, lol. In a little over 6 years I've had 15 1st&2nd gens and a REPU and have given my life over to them and the forum.

trochoid, you keep refering to this as the darkside. I'd say 1st gens are the light side and 2nd gens are the dark side. 3rd gens are pure evil lol.

Jeff, the Darkside is wishful thinking on my part as someday I hope to have boost in the widebody, but your assessment of the 3 gens is quite correct. lol As an old Star Wars fan, once one ventures to the Darkside, one can never got back. At one time I wanted to own all 3 gens. Once I bought my 1st 1st gen, that idea quickly disappeared and a I made the paradigm shift to old school.

I too wanted all three generations. I still want a third gen, but that is simply for a very rarely driven weekend car. I definitely don't want to be the guy who has his FD running for three months, and spending nine months recovering from those three months.
