1st Gen MPG

what is it people i want to get this automatic and i wanna know how many gallons it holds and how many MPG can i get out of a tank??

RotaryRyan 06-15-04 10:37 AM

I get like 16mpg. some people get like 20mpg.

I think the tank is 14.5 gallons.

Tom 06-15-04 10:42 AM

Depends on year. I believe 84-85's have a tank size around 17 gallons. Earlier years like 14 something.
Mileage varies depending on condition of motor, if the car is tuned up or not. Expect anywhere from a range of 13-20mpg (that's my guess).

Brianhsval 06-15-04 11:11 AM

85 SE 16 gal tank 17 in town if I drive like granny, 22 highway at 80mph.

Illswyn 06-15-04 11:36 AM

I get around 22-24 mpg mostly 50-60mph driving for 45+ minutes at a time.

So that's about 300 miles before I start worrying about where the nearest (cheap) gas station is. I get about 200 miles at 1/2 way on the gauge, then it drops pretty quick for the next 100 miles.

85rotarypower 06-15-04 11:46 AM

SA (79-80) has 14 gal tank and FB (81-85) has 16.5 gal tank. EPA fuel mileage is 20 mpg city and 27-28 highway. Mostly the same for all years.

wow thats shitty sorry to say this guys but i think im gonna have to give up on rotary i seen on cars.com a 250hp car doing 17/25mpg or i think ill swap in a 13BTT cuz it do 17/25mpg and thats ok for a sports car

cdrad51 06-15-04 11:56 AM

I'm getting 10 mpg right now :(

OtakuRX 06-15-04 12:00 PM

I get about 25, and enjoy it

sweetege 06-15-04 12:08 PM

i get 15 if i'm lucky around town and about 30 or more on the interstate.

85rotarypower 06-15-04 12:17 PM

When my car was running REAL rich, I was getting <10 mpg. This is an all stock car with a custom exhaust.

Good luck buying a 13BTT, installing it, and tuning it for the same price range as a used FB.

cosmicbang 06-15-04 06:50 PM

Up to 29-30 mpg highway.

hammmy 06-15-04 07:16 PM

My 1980 has a 14.5 gallon tank, complete Racing Beat dual-pipe exhaust, and gets ~16mpg.

Some people get like 10mpg in the city and 25-26 on the highway. :) But this isn't an automatic car, though. Probably lose 5-10% due to pump losses.

check your distibuter. I had to replace the rotor and Cap....only 25 bucks total.....It got me away from that 10 range.

That 13BTT is rated for 17/25. In actuality they get far worse mileage. If you have a hard-on for good gas mileage, a rotary is not the motor for you.

Illswyn 06-15-04 10:07 PM

Get a CRX HF: 45+ mpg regardless of driving style.

Oh, that explains this

aGoGo 06-15-04 10:39 PM

Anyways, I get about 10 mpg in the cities and 20 mpg on the high way

Swolbynos 06-15-04 10:55 PM

25mpg here

Same for my '83 and I have the later 16.5 gal tank. Always surprises the gas station attendant because they can't believe such a small car has such a large tank. I've gotten nearly 25 on the highway but seems to like staying at 17 for in town.

680RWHP12A 06-16-04 12:03 AM

with automatic, and 10psi boost , very heave footed....approx.. 5 mpg....yah , it hurts...but worth it

Bolox 06-16-04 12:52 AM

im gonna be different and say i get between 8 and 15 Litres/100Km :D

also why is it that i can get 250ish Km's by half a tank.. then only get 100-150 for the rest?

-Cheers

rx7_dren 06-16-04 10:17 AM
