1st Gen Mag articles this month

the 1st gen 7 has two mag articles this month, a buyers guide in the brit mag "PRACTICLE CLASSICS" and a 84 SE review in HEMMINGS - not the yellow newspaper mag but their glossy.

dantheman 07-05-06 11:57 AM

I have the Hemmings Sports & Exotic car in my hands right now. Not a bad little write up about a SE.

Dougster 07-05-06 12:23 PM

Old car buyers guide has a GSL-SE in #1 condition rated at $9,000!
:)
Save the 7's fella's!

Dougster 07-07-06 03:02 PM

I haven't been able to find the mag on the GSL-SE...What did it say?

Dougster 07-07-06 10:04 PM

Ok, after 2 book stores I found it...

I didn't like the quote from the owner...He doesn't seem like a "RX-7" kind of guy...

Still a very cool read about a very cool GSL-SE...

If you have a GSL-SE you should buy it...

Dom 07-07-06 11:35 PM

So,........ anybody going to put up the articles, or what?

Dougster 07-08-06 09:01 AM

They don't have it online...
But it is the August edition...Page 16, the first story in the mag...Nice pics, looks just like mine (Silver) but his is cloth interior mine in burgandy leather.

Dom 07-08-06 09:52 AM

Then it's your little secret.

ray green 07-08-06 02:24 PM

Would it be totally illegal if some private citizen were to scan these articles into a pdf and kind of make a link to the pdf, you know? I've seen it done before. It's not like we are going to be cutting into magazine sales, just the opposite, we can say we read this real cool article in ____ magazine, etc.

In other words, information should be free, right? This is America after all.

Maybe Napster would be better at answering that question.

j_tso 07-08-06 03:09 PM

maybe after that issue is out of print.

I read both. The Practical Classics magazine I've never heard of before, I like how it's about fixing up old cars to drive. The article has some nice pictures of that limited edition with the trichoid wheels, but it's stuff forum frequenters already know, about the same as the Classic Cars buying guide a few months back. I think the owner of that car was selling it last year.

John, thanks for the info... do you know what month of each mag that I should be looking for? I found both mags at Barnes & Noble but didn't find any RX-7 articles. Not sure if I'm too early or I'm just too late.

DJAngelicon 07-09-06 06:58 PM

Hey guys, I just went to Barnes & Noble and found the "Hemmings" SPORTS & EXOTIC CAR Magazine. For those that are looking for it is the August, 2006 #12 Issue

It will say on the right bottom corner Twin-Rotor Riot: 1984 Mazda RX-7. If I had a scanner I would post the article but I might even type it in sometime when the weather here cool down a bit because is hot to type such a long review.

The Hemmings mag is also available at Borders. It's a favorable, 5 page write up with some nice pics. There are a few typos though. One of them lists the car's 1/4 time as 9 seconds.
The correct figure is listed below on the spec page. It's an article worth getting and keeping.

pjr 07-10-06 06:36 PM

Thanks guys. B&N put out the new Hemmings just today, and I snatched a copy. The car looks like the SE that I sold last week.

Now.... I'll have to get the Practical Classics... once I figure out the right issue!
