My car has an 85 mph speedo. What's involved in upgrading to the 130 speedo besides changing the face?

V8kilr 06-18-02 02:43 PM

you would have to actually change the cluster,

what year is your car?

leadguy 06-18-02 02:48 PM

1980

V8kilr 06-18-02 02:52 PM

sure you can throw in a 79 setup and it will solve the problem,.

the cluster should bolt right in,
their the same size.

I got an 80 here thats had the speedo changed, I just changed the speedo cog and not the whole cluster, its for sale, im parting the car :)

I just sent you a pm. If you can make it by you can bring along the 79-80 set 2. I'll go with the 130 speedo and look for a 79 cluster later. That way the change will be more worthwhile.

The cog? The cluster?

The cog sounds cheaper, how much for either or both?

1 quart of 2 cycle per total fill up :)

I did one rebuild when I had leaky o rings in the dowells at 228k, I chnaged a couple of the apex's from a locked up 82 motor, and a fewother things, like I made my own corner seal inserts etc etc

never gave it hell, drove it nice and easy up to 6k rpm's.. etc etc

MIKE-P-28 06-18-02 11:33 PM

Oh and the odometer reads 86k, thats 386k :)
