1983 limited edition

is there any thing special about the 1983 limited edition from the regular 83' RX-7

I don't know much about them, but I know they have 14 inch rims, and only come in one color.

They had special wheels, Were all the same silver ish color, have red interior, and limited badges.

:icon_tup: The rims look great on a GSL as well.

They were a special run of the GS with 'Chateau Silver Metallic' paint with red pinstripping. The extras were a sunroof, cruise control, top of the range audio equipment, and those great looking 14" forged alloy wheels with 205 60 tires

^^ and they all had maroon interiors with manual crank windows.

Nope, no such luck there. All first gens, with the exeption of GSL-SE's, had the same stupid 4x110 bolt pattern. Whoever thought of that bolt pattern should have been shot.

My cousin used to have one... He got it from this guy that treated it like a baby... Everything worked in it, nice stereo, no noise at all, AC... The only PITA was having to get out of the car to place the sunroof back in when it rained unexpectedly!!! LOL... After a year he got tired of the smooth ride and out went the engine... Came back in with racing beat intake and exhaust manifolds, 600cfm holley, 2" exhaust and a racing beat muffler... Man... poor 5.0's!!! LOL...

Interesting, all the S3 12A engined models outside of the USA came with the larger bolt pattern like the SE.

Those rims are very light weight - I think they are the lightest wheels the factory used. You will spend some money to get a nicer set of wheels. I think they were made by BBS, but not sure. I painted a set in bright silver to match when I painted my 84 GSL (the red/silver one).

They are very similar to the 15 inch BBS wheels on the 1990 convertbles. I put a set of those 15s on my other 1st gen (the beige one).

Some guys like the modern wheels with rubber bands for tires, but I prefer the look of these "snowflake" wheels on these cars.

Nothing else special about the "special edition" except the paint scheme and they had all the goodies, as someone said.
