1982 acceleration Stutter HELP!!!

hey guys i just got my 82 rx7 on the road here in aus and have discovered that under moderate to hard accel in any gear i get a nasty stutter between 2500 and 4000 rpm, its like i hit a massive fuel cut or something.. ive read some of the posts on this forum about it but they all seem to be to do with fc's and fd's. Now if i ease the accelerator pedal in i can push past the stutter then the high rpm (4k and up) seems to run fine and produce good power. My mods are a 12a mild port motor with custom extractors (2 pipes to just behind the driver then into 1) with a 2 1/2 inch exhaust system and everything else is standard to my knowledge.. also to my knowledge everything is working but i am new to rotaries and really need help, anyone with any info i would greatly appreciate it... also please be very descriptive as i am new.

Thanks in advance

James

[EDIT] i also have a bit of play in the steering column and was wondering if there is a way to adjust it to tight again

just replace leading coil with a gt40 coil and stutter is almost gone.. will replace trailing coil when i have the money but ive read that it can also be caused by vacuum leak and would like to know if its true.. if so how much is a set a hoses for a 12a gonna set me back.

Thanks

James
