This kit eliminates weight from the front end and clears up considerable amounts of space from under the hood. Uses 4 Hella 55W bulbs and existing factory wiring. High power bulbs replace the heavy, dim and pitted pop up sealed beams. This kit eliminates the pop up mechanism and all associated armatures and linkages as a whole. The durable lexan cover has been formed to follow the contours of the original headlight cover, it forms a water tight seal over the lights. A comprehensive installation guide is supplied with the kit. Better fuel economy, acceleration and top speed due to reduced drag. Comes with all necessary brackets and hardware for installation. What you guys are forgetting is how it will look when
the lexan is tinted. or even the reflective film, that way the whole assembly 'disappears' behind the film, when the lights are on , they appear,,,, 'ghost lights'.

I also think the lights should be staggard some. the 'inside' lamp extended a bit 'out' IMO

$500, but hey they pay for taxes AND shipping...

taxes? what taxes, as for shipping, they better be driving to my house personally.

And if you got them dark enough to be ghost lights it would have to effect the brightness.

Damn B thats shits hella expensive for some hella lights. I say tally the total for the lights and add 10-20 smackeroo's for the lexan and housing.

Everytime cp racing makes something - i buy it - i love that company - i have the strut bars the fender flares the roll cage - these lights are so hot = it will take a little but in the next couple of months i will have these too!

I would like to see a pic from further away, not sure if I like it yet, and whats up with the big "GS" emblem on the front? And way pricey for me..

the pics need to be much better to tell what they look like. day light pics would help a lot. to me it does not look like they are in the right spot for proper light, but how can you tell from the pic that they are showing? get some proper pics to show us what they look like. to me they look like the mtm lights that sell for 300, if so 500 us is too much. the better mtm ones are 400 may be chris can give more info to show why his are worth the price. is there a molded carbon piece or reflective peice for the inside of the light so they dont look like two round bulbs in a square box? what happened to the 300 or less target price? good work getting a kit out though.

Personally, I think you could all just quit yer bitchin'!
As a craftsman by trade, I can tell you that even lowering my hourly rate down to 10 bucks an hour plus the cost of materials, well...
...you friggin try it!
-And if you think that I'm being fat-headed by saying "lowering my hourly rate" just look on that sign on the wall in any auto shop (at least here in NY) where it states that their hourly rate is somewhere upwards of 50-60 bucks an hour - to install struts or to change yer oil...a PITA job or a cake job, that's their rate!

Break it all down. If they're having special pieces moulded, well unless they're purchasing a gazillion of them straight from China, they're damn expensive. You have to roll out dough and lick ass just to get that ball even rolling.
If they're modding existing parts or fabbing them from scratch, that costs even more even at a nominal 10-12 bucks an hour to pay someone to do it. (plus workmans comp and unemployment insurance. -don't know about Canada.)

Thing is, you all balk at the price louder than you commend the guys for even doing it.

I don't entirely agree with you Sterling. As a professional, I believe you should properly compensated for your time, but I also believe there are limits. Regardless of the amount of money that went into the development of those lights, the concensus is, $500 is too expensive. What's the point of investing gobs of time/money into a product and then setting a high price which will only result in few units sold? Will they sell some at $500? Absolutely. Will they sell even more at 300-350? Yes, again. My point is, why not lower the price to sell more units and make more money overall? Were it straight labor (like building carbs for example), then by all means keep your rate high, but for production this doesn't make sense to me. There are always ways to produce something cheaper.
Then again, maybe they actually DO cost 400-450 to put together and their margin for profit isn't that much, but, personally, I wonder about it.
While I've never done business with CP, I got nothing but respect for them, so don't misunderstand me. They got some good products, some of which I plan on buying eventually, but before I pay $500 for a set of those, I WILL be friggin trying myself to make a pair. :)

Damn, I couldn't follow the linky, so no webby. From the comments above, the kit is 5 Benjamins. I agree with the comments posted on both sides of the fence, as I myself provide a few products for the Rotary community. The price for a given product should be reasonably priced, compensating the designer for the time/resources/design and inspiration put into it. Pricing it too high would alienate your potential customers, pricing it too low, you'd feel you could have made a few bucks more back for your work. It's all economics, supply and demand. We'll see if the curve moves more towards the consumers side.

Well I guess I'll be getting these instead. HID baby for ~$300, just gotta get the Hella H4 housings.
