16v conversion

Seems like an idea...
Im running a 13b turbo in an s3 and it would have been a seemingly ideal solution to marginal fuel pump and ignition set-ups, but also woefull 1985 power windows, windscreen wipers, ect.
Anyone know anything about this? Is it as simple as running a dc-dc converter as long as you have enough alternator, and will all the electrics hold up to the higher voltage, or is it much more involved than that?

The power windows really need to be ran from relays vs power through the up/down switch. This would help dramatically. This is one of my next projects.

i wouldn't recommend running any fuel pump at 16v constantly, you even have to be careful with a proper setup like a kenne belle BAP.

for example, a nippondenso brand new OEM supra TT pump only lasted 2k miles and crapped out on the dyno with a kenne belle upping it to 17v at high boost. and no, it wasn't a fake knockoff pump.

some pumps can handle it well, others cannot. the Walbro 255 worked just fine with high voltage, as it worked fine when we took it out after 50k miles with the kenne belle supercharging it and went into my car after that and has still been working fine. the supra TT that went in after the walbro came out... newp, didn't like it at all! was replaced by a walbro 400 which didn't even need the kenne belle active up to 500whp where the 35R was running out of steam.

Thats great info Lyger. Might not be such a great idea to convert the whole car to 16v then!
Repu man, id be interested to hear how that goes.

I'm gonna have to add that to my list of projects, I didn't realize the switch ran the main power in them

Just assume all the switches run main power for everything. Stock there were only a few relays. Thats why you end up relaying the lights, ignition, fuel pump, elect fans etc. Switches and loom
are old and cranky so running less amps through makes them happy.

Cool, I guess I will be doing some more wiring in the near future
