is a 13B-RE 1st gen possible?

Well like the subject reads. Is that convertion possible, well i mean i know about the different mounts rear as apposed to front, and well fuel and engien management concerns, along with brakeing capabilites. Say if you had a complete 3rd gen shitty body, and a 1st gen good body having most everything you need can it be done?

And has anyone done this? There must be at least one hard core Rotary freak out there who has attempted...right???

Let me know, i'm really wondering about this.

Look at Mike's thread(s) :D And AJC13B has had one for a while. It's been done several times before and it'll be done more times in the future.

FWIW the 13B-RE is not the FD's engine - the 13B-RE is the engine from the Cosmo and the 13B-REW is the engine from the FD. They are not the same engine - the manifolds, turbos (throw 'em away :) ), most everything is different.

CECCHIN 06-02-02 08:12 PM

heh, my bad, i really ment 13B-REW's

MIKE-P-28 06-02-02 08:18 PM

I would have went with a FD motor, but 1) they are a shitload more $$'s and 2) the intake runners are actually bigger on the cosmo

Now if you get one, trash the turbos, they are small and puny. But on a 2nd note, the motor will fit complete with turbos in non seq mode in a FB/SA :)

Trust me if you plan on doing one on a FB, get about $7,000. Im at close to $4000 , tommorow (monday) I will be ordering parts from Australia. Add another $2400 to the total :)

So you want to obtain an -REW and transplant it 100% stock into a 1st-gen?

My first thought is WHY???? The FD turbos are junk. The FD computer is junk. If you care about performance (and I assume you do if you want to swap engines) probably the most important thing you can do with an FD is throw away the stock computer and get an aftermarket programmable setup. Why would you want to hamstring yourself to the stock computer when you're already starting with a clean slate?

Besides you're looking at an easy $10k for a running wrecked FD... have fun!

Well i do care abou performance, and well the 3rd gen engine would be an up grade compared to my 12a. From there upgrades to the stock FD stuff would come in time, like they do for FD's. And well i done think i have ever come accross a cosmo engine for sale. If you know of one i'd be interested in the details. But i find FD stuff all the time. I may be starting with a clean slate working form the ground up, but that slate isn't paved with gold sadly enough. But i value all imput it helps me make decitions and come up with ideas.

And well with all good projects it takes alot of time, and well if i ever run acrross a cosmo 13B-RE i'll be sure to find a way to get my hands on it.
