13b cubic inches?

what is the cubic inches of the 13b motor, i thought it was like 76 but im not sure

darkfrost 08-19-04 09:13 PM

80

Gregs 08-19-04 09:43 PM

thanks, im eventually getting plates that say 80 CID

BigJim 08-19-04 09:45 PM

doesnt that depend on whose terms you use? I thought when talking about Cubic inches it was one complete shaft rotation. On a piston engine thats each piston firing once, on a rotary that is each face firing once, thus 6 fires, thus 80*3=240 cubic inches. i may be completely wrong thou, as i am pulling this from memory

Gregs 08-19-04 09:46 PM

you are completley wrong ;)

That whole anti-1308cc argument is so played out. I can no longer take those people seriously. The method of measuring the engine employed by NSU and Mazda is the correct method. The Renesis won as a 2.6L though, which is a bit strange. Those darn Europeans. :rolleyes:

i agree with jeff, btw jeff when u gonna get that 20b in the repu, and next time im in town would u mind giving me a ride in the repu? ive never been in one except for dans( and its not even a real repu), and that thing needed some tuning BAD, it didnt have hardly any pull

you going to the izzy's meet?

btw if u dont remember me im the 20 year old with the poofy blonde hair with the cutoff t-shirt that was at the bbq last saturday

Richard Miller 08-20-04 10:53 AM

poofy blond hair?

I walked along the avenue.
I never thought I'd meet a girl like you;
Meet a girl like you.
With auburn hair and tawny eyes;
The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through;
Hypnotize me through.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

A cloud appears above your head;
A beam of light comes shining down on you,
Shining down on you.
The cloud is moving nearer still.
Aurora borealis comes in view;
Aurora comes in view.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

Reached out a hand to touch your face;
You're slowly disappearing from my view;
Disappearing from my view.
Reached out a hand to try again;
I'm floating in a beam of light with you;
A beam of light with you.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

I put it in something else. All I'm waiting for is the ECU. Then all the wiring will begin (shudder). I may do one in the REPU some day, but I need to get this current 20B going before I can make any other plans.

Yeah, Dan called me up once asking how my friend's rotary B2000 accelerates because he wasn't happy with his. I told him it felt a little quicker than my REPU when starting off in 1st gear. Both trucks have 460 geared diffs (the B2000 had a B2600i axle housing with a '74 REPU 3rd member). I blame the extra 'curb' weight, heavier (stock REPU) flywheel, clutch fan and stock carb of my REPU for why it feels heavier/slower than the B2000 with its lighter rotors, FC flywheel, E fan, Holley carb etc.

Dan's engine would probably run a lot better with a direct fire ignition system that sparks both leading plugs at the same time, such as DLIDFIS. He's already got two FB coils and two ignitors. All he'd need is just one more ignitor and one more coil. He probably can't walk into his shop without tripping over a couple of them. ;)

If you think about it, he's using 2nd or 3rd gen plugs, right? They are a surface discharge type of plug that requires more spark energy to jump reliably than the older BR8EQ-14s. Since he's running it through a cap and rotor, there is a chance his engine is misfiring now and then. My friend's B2000 had a seriously poor ignition system which I won't get into here, but the drivability improved muchly after I installed DLIDFIS. If Dan goes with a direct fire ignition system, he would be able to use the BUR7EQ(P) spark plugs in leading with no problem and they should be able to spark quite reliably, even under boost. He might want to consider BR8EQ-14 in trailing though because it would still be routed through the dizzy cap. Besides, trailing doesn't really do anything for power, so why buy the expensive platinum plugs?

On a related topic, my friend has a 7" supercharger on an '86-'88 6 port engine in his '77 REPU that also has BUR7EQ in leading and BUR9EQ in trailing, but a stock FB ignition system. No wonder it misfires from time to time. I recently picked up two GM HEI ignitors and a relay for it. I think I'll do the DLIDFIS conversion next week. It currently has a really funky idle as if the leading plugs were faulty. We swapped in some brand new B7EM plugs that were laying around (B7EM were from twin dizzy engines and have only two ground electrodes with a very tiny gap). The idle improved silghtly now that the plugs are easier to jump a spark across them. I bench tested the old plugs and the carbon buildup allowed sparks to jump through it as well as across the air gap (just think about when boost is applied). The plugs simply never were able to reach self-cleaning temperature. There is also a chance one of the apex seals could be on its way out. I'll see how much improvement the engine gets with DLIDFIS and another set of FC leading plugs (and some BR8EQ-14 for trailing if I can scrounge some up). If the engine still seems to have a bad apex seal, we've got a freshly rebuilt S5 T2 waiting for it. So no matter what happens, this truck is going to run really good. :)

Yeah, I think I remember you. Were you thinking of moving here?

cdrad51 08-20-04 01:47 PM

If its exactly 1308 cc, it would be exactly 79.8190573 cubic inches :D

Gregs 08-20-04 01:57 PM

well, dans truck has a 3rd gen motor, with a 7 inch camden with a holley, i seriously feel like my se pulls harder than that truck believe it or not, i was not impressed with it, and it is loud as fuck, it fits dan though, hes a crazy guy with a crazy truck thats loud as fuck :rofl:

Jeff20B 08-20-04 02:34 PM

This is Dan: http://lady_deathtouch.tripod.com/ha.../reninsane.gif

Gregs 08-20-04 04:41 PM

lmfao, that is picture perfect

Atkins Dan 08-20-04 06:20 PM

What you guys are BASHING on my truck??????

Atkins Dan 08-20-04 06:25 PM

I will tune it next week to make it feel \ drive better..

Dan

Jeff20B 08-20-04 09:45 PM

Cool! I was just hinting that you should at least do a direct fire coversion, if nothing else. :)
