13 b for out of car use

Building a bike for dirt drags from a 13b na from a 86 gsl, auto trans , I want to do away with the injection system and use a carb set up and try to keep the electronic ignition .. Can anyone tell me what a simple but good carb set up to use . and also the very bare necessities of what parts I need to use the ei system. I think I will stick with the oiling system .. Does the engine require back pressure to operate proper or can I use 2 single short open headers? On the top rear drivers side of the engine it says 13b rc209 I cant find any info on it .. The engine is a crate engine that was imported from japan and it looks like new very nice compression so I'm not worried about engine condition I just want to get as much as possible from it without making to many trips to the bank. I wont make this any longer but I am sure there will be many more ..

for the carb, depends on if u want to go with 2bbl or 4bbl. with a 2bbl, u have choices between weber, dellorto, or mikuni. with a 4bbl, u have holley or edelbrock. ignition would be easy. just get a dizzy and coils from a 1st gen. to run the efi and ignition of the 86, just get the engine harness and ecu. u can use the stock fuel pump for either, just need to add a pressure regulator to bring the pressure down if going carb.

yea i'd prob go with a webber setup and 1st gen ignition, doesnt get any more basic than that lol no electronics at all except for ignition of course

13 b

I just took a few quick pics I will get some better ones as time goes on I hope this works if not I guess its off to picture school . I built a 2 wheeler for dirt drags from a v8 a few years back but the dam thing kept bucking me off so I shot it . Not sure what carbs to use.. Is there a chance that I could build and mount a air box where the dynamic chamber bolts on and put a carb on the air box like an old high rise? It needs to go hard from start to finish there are very few seconds and no time for being lazy.. I mounting the stock auto trans to it so I should be able to torque it up pretty good before I let fly. There are so many questions I will leave it as it is for now . well I guess its back to picture school :(will post pics as soon as I figure it out..

What he said! I personally prefer the Dellorto...if you can find one. And make sure to block off thse emissions!

I would upgrade the fuel pump, regardless.

How many cfm for a 13b

It is important that I build as much of this machine as possible so what I was thinking of doing was to remove the stock throttle body (just the throttle body ) build an air box out and up and mount the carb on top.. but I am wondering if I can feed all intake ports at the same or do I need to build chambers. The Engine will run hard for only a few seconds at a time. What sort of cfm can these engines handle before they load up? It will have a auto trans so I will be able to bring up the rpm some before I let go. Thanks for any suggestions positive or negative. If anyone needs any small parts I have 2 86 gsl I want the power train stuff and ignition but any thing else can be had for the cost of the cod charge. I would be happy to help anyone out so long as it not for resale. Just mail me :)
