Looking to see if there are some different options for front struts for my FB. I have RB springs and KYB struts currently, looking for something to upgrade to.

Do not want coil-overs.

Looking to see if maybe there are some Koni or Bilsteins struts that can work on the front that are for used for other popular cars.

For example,

Replaced my rear with Koni Oranges (fox bodied Mustang shock); works great and know that future supply should be good. And were direct bolt-in fitment.

Looking to do same for struts. I like Tokico Blues but supply is getting spotty due to lack of demand, so looking for different solution. Something that does not require any mods to make work.

I WOULD go the Tokico Blue route on all four corners of car for a couple reasons. First, the valving in Koni shocks is too stiff. I used them exclusvely in upgrades in my musclecars and they were a huge improvement in handling than other big name brands for domestic cars. Were i to change your Konis to Tokico Blue without your knowledge-if you were tuned into your car,certain you would know something different,better.
Second, Tokico is the original shock/strut supplier for 1st gens. They're made for the car,so are the Blues. IMO they are best choice when NOT going coilover route,they complement RB springs perfectly. Adapting something else designed for a different(heavier?) car is second best.
I expect pushback from Koni,Bilstein,KYB fans for which i care not. Over the years have used these and other brands in upgrading 1st gen suspensions but came back to Tokico Blues-only thing better than these are Illuminas which are very nice but not necessary on a street/lightly tracked car.

Don't get me wrong, I like Tokico Blues but the problem is trying to find them. So trying find so other options for the future. It is becoming increasing difficult to find Tokico Blues, and if you need to find them on short notice it is harder.

Just thinking ahead for when my current struts wear out, or I decide to upgrade in the future.

I currently have Tokico Illuminas in the front, used to have Tokico Blues. The Illuminas are way better I felt a big difference in the front. I mainly daily mine and go cruise at the canyons every weekend. I bought them from these guys https://thmotorsports.com/i-56416.as...SABEgKsmPD_BwE

I have Illuminas in my Miata, and Blues in my RX-7. Both are good but if I were to do the RX-7 again I'd go with Illuminas. Performance is pretty close to the same but the Illuminas give a much more comfortable ride.

Bilsteins from a MK1 VW work better than pretty much anything else you can put on these cars but they do take some work.

This topic has been discussed extensively. with a strut setup like the FBs I think only Stance makes a "coilover" setup. Technically speaking the front suspension are coilovers since the spring is located around the strut, but I digress. You could run any of the struts that people have talked about using and still use your lowering springs instead of adjustable perches. I have heard that MR2 rear struts work nicely in the front of our cars and the bilsteins from a porsche 944 also are nice with some work.

Tokico blues for the rear of the MK1 Toyota MR2 are available and work well. They appear to be a little stiffer than the RX7 blues. You might have to make a bushing to get the top of the insert to fit the stock RX7 strut top. I can't remember. Not too difficult though.
