12A NA HP rating

Quote "How much HP could I get with a street port, Intake, carb, and and exhaust and no turbos for a 12A!"

Let me rephrase my question, who on this forum or any other forum has the highest HP 12a NA with a street port and what is the HP and components used?

If someone answers your question and for a comparision a stock 12a puts down 79rwhp on a dynojet . I had a 12a stock port dellorto and some bs exhaust(I was pressed for time for the grassroots 2002 challange) header 2" pipe with flowmaster. 110rwhp on dynojet.

I now have a se motor in my gs 13b dellorto, 6port sleeves, rb streetport exhaust, oil pan baffle plate, high pressure oil regulator, double under drive pullys, no ac or ps, gsl diff, aluminum rb flywheel, carter fuel pump, and much much more. I want to put on the dyno but dont seem to have the time. Im very curious as to what im putting down. It is very fast I out ran my buddies 98 audi a4 bigger turbo fu;ll 3" exhaust, intake, and custom chip. It is very fast awd car. I ran a guy in a 240sx turbo Killed him and ect.

Depending on how tight the motor is after rebuild (new vs used rotor housings, etc.) and how crazy you get with the porting a 12A with a streetport and carb will make between 180 and 200hp on the top end (closer to 180 is normal). A mild streetport will make closer to 160hp. Note that this is at the flywheel.
Although many people have their opinions a 12A streetport is probably best matched with a professionally modded Nikki carb. Sterling is also probably your best choice now that Yaw Power no longer does carbs for everyone. The good thing about these carbs is the boys at Sterling have already done the tinkering for you. If you get a webber/dellorto/whatever be prepared to spend many hours to get the setup to generate the horsepower the porting in the engine is capable of making. Just keep in mind that if you plan on upgrading to a turbo or 13B later on that a 12A streetport is about the max a modded Nikki can keep up with.

not necessarily. What raw data did you use to draw that conclusion?

I see you've started two threads about this same thing.

I think if you searched the 1st gen, or maybe even the other rotary section for 12a hp or NA hp, you'd probably get some good results.

modded Nikki carb info

Hi all,
I had a carb built by Paul Yaw that I bought off of ebay a few years back. I'd always used Webers or Holleys before that carb so I thought I'd ask a few questions about what to expect. My memory is fading on this one, but I talked to either Paul Yaw or Dave Lemmon at Mazdatrix about the Nikki carbs. Anyway, whoever I talked to said that a Nikki was good to about 240hp with proper mods, porting the intake manifold, etc. They also mentioned that for a bridge ported engine that a Weber particularly in terms of tuneability. Also this was before all of the aftermarket FI systems became really commonplace.
Keep in mind all of my experience is with NA engines. I really can't speak to turbo setups.
Regards,
Peacedog

I made 450 horsepower off of my special do it at home streetport! Wait, what is the color for sarcasm again?

Unreal.....

1. Search dammit! This topic has come up no less than a dozen times in the last couple of weeks, so stop cluttering this board with more bs (please).
2. "The boys at Sterling" really do rock. However, your statement reveals your lack of knowledge....
3. Maybe we need a "playpen" section. Someplace safe, and cozy, where the noobs can go to play with each other?

Seriously though, people work very hard to make this forum work. Asking the same question over and over again only makes future searches harder to sort through. Do your homework first, then ask questions only if you couldn't find your answer.

Imagine trying to look up the work "ignorant" in the dictionary, only to find 1,193 different definitions and opinions....

Speedrce1: if your last thread was locked by the moderators, why didn't you take the hint? If this is an example of how you plan to behave in this forum, then I would invite you to take your self to any number of other forums that might be willing to accommodate that sort of mentality (or lack thereof). Now go away and let the grownups talk....
