Looks really nice with that cold air intake on it. Gives you a good look at the engine block

Your car is EXACTLY what I wish mine was. Running, that is.

oh, and those meshies lol

Hate to break your heart on the intake, but it will not flow well in the higher rpm band (you may make out okay with a mild 12a though). A carb needs an intake plenum. I tried the same thing, only bigger, really wanted a stealth look and to seal the airfilter to the hood with an offset TII molded scoop. My car fell flat on its face over 6000 rpm.

this proved more effective

and my desire for a cold air intake eventually lead to this

My compliments of course on a nice clean install!!! Nice clean job on the msd direct fire and rats nest removal. At first look I thought you did a blow through set up but couldn't see a turbo. Make a full throttle test drive back to back with and without your CAI, if both pull the same than your setup should be fine for your engine's demands.

12a

All I have is a 12a streetport , RB intake, 650 holley, msd 3 coil set up, and the cold air intake. Everything works well together and it sounds nive to. thanks again for all the input.

Rise from the dead!

Hey jim, not sure if you remember me. Is this the Rebuilt 12A SP I sold you? If so i used all racing beat porting templates. How many miles are her now? Glad i did my first rebuild!...If this is indeed my old engine.

Edit: I now know its my old 12A. Strange you had a leak at the rear main seal. I did a master rebuild SP even with new rotor bearings installed from powerhousetuning. You will have to do more heat cycles than 2k before the bearings are worn in. This is what i heard. Have fun with it! i wish i got to keep it : (

Are you saying that it didn't produce high end power due to the cai and a modified engine, and that if the engine had not been modified it would have been fine? Why would a cai affect high end power negatively? Is it the longer path for airflow, like a longer intake manifold? I was under the impression that intake manifolds had such an effect because they were after the filter and carb bottleneck, and that the fuel was mixing as it flowed. Maybe you can help me with some of these flow questions.

By the way the OP's pics look great. Very clean engine bay. Love the white with dark rims.
