12a front cover question

Does a 12a front cover have a port fitting for a oil cooler line like the 13b engines do?

the reason I ask is because I am currently gathering parts for a rotary powered miata. plan on running the fc oil cooler, but I need to use a 1st gen front cover for the engine mounting.

any help with front cover knowledge on 1st gens will help.

thanks

The 12A cover does have the fitting for the oil cooler.

'74 to '92 front covers all had the same oil cooler fitting. Your FC oil cooler will work fine with a 12A front cover.

off topic, but I've been contemplating a rotary swapped miata as well recently. Care to share the plans for mounting the engine?

Plan is to use a t2 block with a bnr stage 4 turbo (anything with an aftermarket manifold will not clear the frame, a custom manifold would need to be made to fit any larger turbo), 12a front cover and bracket, and a gsl-se oil pan. Using a 1st gen mount is almost a must unless you were to go rew or custom oil pan.

You need to mount the GSL-SE oil pan backwards.

no, not backwards just normal to clear the miata subframe.

This may be of some help although obviously this is on a right hooker.

Is yours installed already?
