12a with 13b GSL-SE fuel pump?
 

I recently found out my car has a 84-85 13b GSL-SE fuel pump/filter and i have a 12a under the hood. Was told that the GSL-SE pump is too much for the 12a and was told i need a FPR if i were to keep the GSL-SE pump.

Is this true?

If so is any aftermarket FPR going to work? Or what FPR is recommended for my setup?

I have 12a, racing beat lim, holley 4 barrel carb, gsl-se fuel pump. This is all i know, only had the car for 1 week. Just had the carb rebuilt now need to figure out my fuel problem. Also my car gets around 9 mpg is this normal:scratch:

I believe fuel pressure would be way far off, the holley needs something like 6 PSI and the fuel injection pressure is much, much higher. Holley makes a good FPR and pump, but the pump is loud as hell. I ran one and it annoyed me so much i went back to stock.

Yea stock GSL-SE pressure is farrrrrr too high for a carb setup and even with a proper FPR for it I wouldn't recommend it, I was running a GSL-SE Pump with my Dell 48 and had no issue running out of fuel in 3rd gear because of how much was being dumped through the return just to keep the pressure low enough, I'd suggest ordering a holley blue through autozone [they have a $100 special for a pump and fpr] and then get a proper FPR, the one that comes in that package deal doesn't go quite low enough IIRC.

So i would need a 6 psi fpr? The 7 psi that comes with the holley pump is too high?

Is this the reason my MPG is so bad? I used 5 gallons to drive 40 miles on 91

ur mpg is bad cause it's running a holley. if gas mileage is a concern, go back to the stock carb.

Ive had no problems using the FI pump on my weber 48IDA setup.

Aeromotive 13301 regulator is what I used!
Will hold 3PSI steady with the stock feed and return!

leave the GSL-SE fuel pump alone and just buy a good regulator such as a mallory or holley that are designed for less than 7psi. For FI pumps, I prefer to use the mallory as there is a port for a return line. As I said, just bring it over and I will take care of it

Dont buy regulator with a dial on top and glass see-thru fuel filter, they are both junks.

oh yeah, be sure a fuel pressure gauge and three 5/16 fuel fittings, 2 straights and 1 90.

Looks like an early model 12A pump hooked up to a GSLSE filter.

74rx-7 is right. That isn't a GSL-SE pump, just a GSL-SE filter.

as stated thats not an -se pump, and for mpg. im getting 18 in my car running a holley 600 and 5lb of boost. listen to wacky he will get you working.
