1100cc carbs
 

:confused: Could you get away with using a set of 1100cc gsxr carbs if you were to build the right intake for it. I have the means and the carbs, just wanted to know what you guys think. I have no emissions at all, thank you.

I don't see why not if you jet it right. It will probably be too small though, depends on your engine size and porting.

It might end up costing you more than the current available setups and who knows what the result would be. If you have money/ time to burn, have at it and let us know the results, it may be a great mod, who knows?

Yeah if you have the carbs (so you're not paying for them) and you have the means to build yourself an intake mani for dirt-cheap, and you know someone (or are someone) who is good with these carbs, go right ahead!

It's not something that I think someone should spend a bunch of time and effort on, but it's worth a try if you've got it.

One question: What is a gsxr? If it's a bike, and it's displacement is 1100cc, then you'll probably have problems with flow. Even though our cars are *rated* at 1.1L or 1100cc, they actually move the same air/fuel as a 2.4L engine (give or take). If you've got a stock port 12a, you might be able to jet it and tweak it to work... who knows?

Just because the carbs came off of 1100 cc engines doesn't mean they were ideal for every 1100 cc engine. However, if you know that and why, then you also know that the high rpm of the rotary makes bike carbs look like a great idea.
But as vipernicus has said, multiply the 12a's displacement x 2.

Using two 1100cc bike carbs is not as theoretically perfect as it first sounds.
The reason is flow velocity and all that carburetion shit.
Ideally, you would want something like a 700cc carb and a 1500cc carb...which is like the Nikki set-up! :P:

It would be alot of work, and you could make it kick ass, but probably not any more than any really well matched 4 bbl with small primaries and larger secondaries.
Getting it as good as that would make you a Carburetion Club hero, IMO.

I picked up the GSXR 600 EFI throttle bodies and plan to use them with the megasquirt standalone ECU.
Injectors are the only question, the bodies are 38mmX4, equal to dual webbers. Should be plenty for 12a.
It will be interesting to see how it develops.
