10mm or 8.5mm wires?
 

I'm going to get some Magnecor wires, Eventually going to be a streetported, either 12a or 13b modified.

Which size of wires would be best?
10mm or 8.5mm? Price is like $10 diff through mazdatrix.

Also, what plugs would go well with these? Do different brands really make that much of a difference?

Which plug wires you choose isn't going to make one bit of difference... except the fat 10mm ones look heaps cooler and cost more. :D

As for plugs, many of us are using the 2nd or 3rd gen. plugs with good results. If you're stock you can use them as per the normal arrangement (7's leading and 9's trailing) but I'm using the trailing plugs all around on my extend-port.

The MSD wire tech people told garfinkle that the wire package of the 8 mm and 10 mm wire was the same . The cover being thicker on the 10 mm was the only differance.

ahah! I'm going to be porting my engine sometime, maybe later than sooner. I'll try the 2nd or 3rd gen plugs.

I dont know what those numbers mean though (7s and 9s). If you explain then i would though!

I got Taylor 180 degree angle 8.5mm wires. You wont have the electrical charge from your ignition to merit the 10mm's :)

The numbers refer to the heat range of the plug... the lower the number the hotter the plug.

A hotter plug transfers less heat away to the engine block which means it will burn away carbon deposits more effectively and resist fouling. But, it can also cause pinging during continuous hard driving escpecially with modified engines.
