What are you gonna put the engine in?

Sire Riptoid 07-21-04 09:10 PM

A lawn mower i got the idea about 2 years ago a guy put a 1 rotor form a arctic cat in a lanwmower that would do around 70mph

I also know that Rob@Pineapple has been doing a turbo charged one rotor for a little while. I can't give details, but lets just say there is *alot* of boost involved. :D CJ

You know what, i've been thinking about this for a while now and the only thing I cant figure out is the E-shaft. I basically wanna take a junkyard engine and make a 1 rotor for like a pulling or racing lawnmowe, and mabye even go and do generators and ect as I work on a potato farm. Can someone help me figure this out, like can I just make this engine simple like a lawn mower or what? I just cant figure out how to cut the e-shaft, will I be welding something back on or can I technically go with out it? Basically I wanna take even more stuff off a non complicated engine lol .

Jeff20B 07-21-04 10:29 PM

RotaryRyan, I couldn't tell you.

The machine time alone will cost you hundreds. It's one of those situations where if you don't already know exactly what to do, or have the right tools to do it, then you're screwed.

mcnannay 07-22-04 02:46 AM

isn't atkins' single rotor on their lawnmower??? i think its propane or something too

Sire Riptoid 07-22-04 08:38 AM

Ask the guy that makes turbo charged rotary engines how much would it cost to get one tell him that im interested

Sire Riptoid 07-22-04 10:53 AM

Reply i need some help finding a 1 rotor engine i would like it turbo charged

MikeLMR 07-22-04 11:25 AM

talk to Carl Hayward in the UK if you have the cash he's looking for a customer to build a high reving single rotor turbo. Carls Website http://www.mazdarotary.co.uk/

Jeff20B 07-22-04 11:48 AM

Atkins sells a little 4" supercharger for their one rotor engines.

Turbo7MN 07-22-04 01:24 PM

single rotor+golf cart=fun

If I wasnt spending all my cash on the '7 I'd like to try that someday.

MikeLMR 07-22-04 03:53 PM

single rotor + turbo +ultralight carbonfibre lotus 7 type kit car = somthing that will rival all the bike engined cars out there.

We have alot of machine tools and can make anything. I think I've decided what to do, and its to make a shaft that would be simular to a motorscyle size or so. It might be hard, it might not, I guess nobody knows?

WackyRotary 07-22-04 04:53 PM

I think a single rotor would work good for a go-cart or a trumph or MG. This is with a turbo or bridgeporting. The small engine would fit easily and generate a bit of power.
