$22 Rock auto strut mount vs others.

Rock Auto:$22, Napa: $55, Atkins: $95

What a broad range of prices. So whats the situation here. Looking for guidance and experence.

I have Rockauto strut mounts... No complaints, I've had them for 3 years of daily driving.

My entire car has been built with RockAuto parts, I wouldn't hesitate to get them.

Oh, I did buy the KYB brand for $30. It matched my KYB struts and shocks. IDK about that $18 one.

Rock auto just frightens me with the vast amount of inaccuracies I see.

Be warned, many places advertise front struts for 79/80 (SA's) but will in fact be FB struts. An FB strut can be modified to fit, there have been a few threads about it. I remember a rather nice, thorough write up with illustrations by DivinDriver a few years back.

My shell is a '80, but the suspension is GSL-SE. I just want to rebuild it all before everything goes back on.

I've gotten the KYB strut mounts from them also, they were oe in these cars.

Ok sorry, you should be good then. Just for the heck of it, here is a link to that thread I mentioned. Always good to have paths to useful info of the past.

I've wondered this too even in the FC world, are the lesser known names that Rockauto sells actually decent? Parts for the FC around me are crazy expensive, but are more betta on rockauto, just not sure on their brands they sell (other than Moog)

That makes me feel better about purchasing them. OE is always the best for OE applications.

EDIT: I will ad that the U-joints they sell do not fit our prop shafts, or at least the shaft for my car I am currently not using.

I went with whatever was on RockAuto a few years ago. I replaced mine when I was doing the shocks/springs because the steering was really sticky (refused to return to center when you let go) and I figured the bearings on the original strut mounts may have had some pretty nasty grease in them. Anyway, 2 years and 16k miles later, no issues that I can tell.

in the 21st century most parts come out of the same factory in China, and the difference between brands is just the box it comes in.
