#$@^%&Road construction!
Cruising on the picturesque country road, one that I know every bend, rise and intersection of........... came on the inevitable recently replaced sulice pipe, with a cone on either side for a warning, and bam! My head (and my husband's) hit the roof.
Now remember, I bought the 85 G in June, brand new to RX-7's, planning to restore this cherry little car and use it for weekend drives. Hubby's not much of a fix the car guy, but he was game. The nice man at Monroe asks, "You had this car a while?" as I walk into the bay. Points out the exhaust leak where the the 2 pipes meet between the cat and muffler and then starts quizzing me about the muffler, which unknown to me is to have 2 little pipes coming out the back. Mine does not. Then he points out where the emissions control stuff has been sealed off in the engine. At least now I know why every guy in the place was under MY car, at least until I went out there. They scattered like mice. I asked him for an estimate on the pipes, and the right muffler. Pricey. My county does not yet have picky emission control stuff to deal with at inspection time, but.. I need some advice on just what to do with my stinky, noisy little car - pipes and muffler. I read the archives on RX exhaust, just don't know what the best-easiest- cost efficient route would be. Might I add, about 45 minutes after leaving Monroe, our son, permit boy, drove my 02 Camry through our garage door. He's fine................. for now. The good news: The exhaust work is cheaper than a new garage door. Bad news: Mamma likes to park in her garage when the weather is nasty. I ain't even gonna mention the front end of the Camry. |
Best - Get a Racing beat exhaust (In the long run, this choice is better)
Cheapest - Go to a Muffler shop have have them make you a new pipe. |
If your emissions are removed, then the Racing beat system for a stock port is the way to go. They last forever and are the best made pieces out there.
