Does anyone else have a problem with getting the windows to stay on the track in there 84? I am sick of taking the door apart. It only happends on the passanger side door. Any suggestions?

No suggestions, but both mine are bad on my 83. The passenger is worse though for some reason. Sorry couldnt help but I will be checking back on this thread more to see about a good, solid fix.

Also, someone else mentioned something about adjusting the track itself. Not sure about that one though.

What may be going on is that the bearings are shot. There is no 'real' repair since you cannot source them anywhere. The only solution is to replace the whole regulator.

Or, you can loosen the one adjustment screw, and push the adjustment bar way up or down and hold it with one hand while operating the window. Then when you get the results you want, drill a hole and tighten it up.

This does not repair it. It just gives you 'better' results until you locate a replacement regulator.

I had the same problem, passenger side window consistantly fell off the track, usually at the worst time and was a bitch to get back on without the door panel off. After that happened a few times last winter I couldnt handle putting it back in (kept fallin out even though the adjustments held it as tight as possible) I decided that there must be some way to fix it so I basically took the rear slider off, pushed it aside and used a drill with a small bit to make it more adjustable, then when i popped it back in it had about 1/8-1/4" more adjustability to tighten up the window, ever since it hasnt popped out once and seems to seal the front corner of the window better. If you spend a lot of time trying to put your window back in then I'd say its worth trying this, because it was easy and saved me a lot of trouble, its been working for about 7 mo.

My system sucks. The window still needs help going up and it is extremely slow.

My window has worked perfectly since I adjusted it. When i was working on it i noticed just how much crap had gotten into the silder assembly where the bearing slides horizontally so i just sprayed so much WD-40 into it as I was testing the window with the door off, after it was all cleaned out I put a tiny dab of wheel bearing grease on the track and that worked wonders. If that doesnt help the speed of your windows the problem is in the electrical system, from what ive heard the switches are the first thing to go bad, as the contacts get covered with dust, etc.

I found that some splay silicone in the channels helped alot with the speed of the Window.

What happens is that the two bearings on the regulator track break and then the window can no longer stay square in the window opening. Since it can no longer follow the track properly, it wedges itself and/or pops out of the track and/or slides slowly.

I 'fixed' mine by redrilling a hole to attempt to square the window with the frame, but that works as well as trying to push a piece of string....

Unfortunately, at this time I have not found replacement hardware without replacing the complete regulator assembly. :(

Don't let people slam your doors. I hate that...

The problem isn't people slaming doors, it's the window popping out of the track.

If you fix the problem (the regulator and or track) then the sympton (window popping out) stops.
