Nice...

I picked up my buddy's bullet heater (he got a real furnace installed in his garage now) to deal with this 15 degree BS. Brett (Rotor_Motor) and Kyle (Snowbreaker) stopped by for a bit while we considered what all to do to my beast (but didn't actually accomplish anything). :)

Just go for it and stuff a TII in it. Do everything possible to maximize turbo response and you'll be killing that monster STi too.

Ahaha I love this post (and I'm sure Funk and the other MN and up north guys would too) . When we got 6 inches of snow in one day this year I took out my 7 on purpose  You just get used to it, and I enjoyed it after I got the hang of how the car responds in the snow. After that day it got put away though, stupid MNDOT puts salt on the roads that will rust cars faster than anything else I've seen.

deadphoenix52 02-12-12 11:08 PM

us southern folk arent used to that. not to mention my car isnt in the best of shape. and im running 155 all season tires. she is by no means winter ready.

dream36realms 02-12-12 11:40 PM

i drilled a hole next to my clutch MC to accommodate the chassis harness I am building from scratch. I figured since I am doing it from scratch I might as well tuck it too.

(one day delayed report)

One week of soaking with PB blaster changedht ePitman Arm That Wouldn't Move into a piece-o'-cake pull that slid off without even a popping sound.

I cleaned, masked, and painted the steering gearbox and cover that came out of the car last month, and set it aside to dry.

I did then apply myself to polishing aluminumenum bits all the livelong day, completing both rotor housings, most of the front cover (need to get some smaller felt bobs for the corners) and half of the bell housing before daylight, stripping wheels, and carpal tunnels did mutually give out on me for the day.

Now I must look into clearcoating same afore they go all milky on me again, though the weather is less than propituous for slinging spray about.

Before and after shot:

Man, looking good! :)

I am on the verge of transplanting the close ratio gearset from a rwd 626 into my SA trans, so I will have the case apart. I have to confess that I do not have the patience to do the polishing but I will try bead blasting the case and then shooting it with a coat of clear. We will see how it goes.

No disrespect meant, sorry about that. It just made me chuckle. Nothing derogatory meant, I apologize. And 2 inches of snow in Texas is more than we've had in Minnesota in a long time now!! Sorry again, don't want to upset anyone.

Munari 02-13-12 09:00 PM

Just finished pulling out my clutch master cylinder, major PITA lol, now to wait till tomorrow to make a new gasket then new one going on :)

absolutely none at all taken. i shoudlve added a smiley. my lack of winter driving experience is compounded by everyone elses lack of experience. which actually does make for pretty treacherous condition lol. not to mention the rx7 lacks all the things i'm used to with rx8, ABS, traction control, etc etc.

but nah. no offense at all taken. if anything im sorry it came off that way

cheers:beer:

looked at it sitting halfway onto my street because it ran out of gas when i was pulling it off the trailer.

XXXJ 02-15-12 07:32 PM

Changed the oil and installed a new coolant overflow tank.

Dont lecture me on the filter lol, the car came with 4 of them when I bought this it.

$18.95 off ebay shipped. It didnt come with the T-bolt clamp, I added that. It looked cheesy with a regular hose clamp.

not really today, but last weekend i swapped my rusted out fuel tank for a fresher one from a 79 parts car. also just picked up some hayashi wheels for it today with decent tires for 100 bucks. not too bad i think.

Finished assembling my refreshed steering gear... ready to put it in possibly tomorrow or Friday. Also came up with an idea for tightening worn units I plan to explore with my spare unit.

PK_12A 02-16-12 12:58 AM

Payed for an engine, ordered parts, dropped the radiator off repair, and picked up my new coils.
Gotta finish setting up shipping. Hopefully she'll be on the road soon.

82transam 02-16-12 07:51 AM

Ordered the last of the parts needed for my Megasquirt setup and began modding a Richard Sohn S5 omp adaptor to accept a S4 omp (so I can run a s4 omp on a s5 front cover) Never a dull moment...

cshaw07 02-16-12 08:15 AM

last night I:

washed the car, cleaned up the interior a bit, tore the whole power steering assy out, tore out the rest of the ac and the bracket, removed the radiator, fan, water pump, alt, drained the oil, re located the FPR, relocated the rad overflow bottle and the evap canister, looped ps lines, tore the water pump apart from the housing to change a gasket, drained coolant from the block (to flush it) and sprayed degreaser on everything to clean it up a bit. Should have it mostly back together tonight and ready for all my tune up parts when they finally get here.

You need to seriously examine your work ethic.

Just givin you a hard time. I think it would take most of us a month and a half to get all the stuff done that you just listed. Hahaha. Keep up the good work!

cshaw07 02-16-12 01:54 PM

Thank you! I also worked 8 hours yesterday and went to bed at 11pm :p

Tonight i hope to have everything back together as much as i can with out my new belts and hoses (autozone sucks, i ordered them last friday), grease front wheel bearings, check suspension and brake parts, install the back half of my rb exhaust, and get a fender and bumper swapped out. The longer this car sits out of comission the more fuel i waste in my truck. I lit the fire under my own ass!
