PA Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Downtown Car Show

Waxed it and took it to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Car show. Ian Stewart Martin (@ianstewartmartin) (https://www.instagram.com/ianstuartmartin/) took very artistic photo of the driver's side headlight cover and Mazda emblem and posted it to instagram. Here is a screen shot of that photo which I processed through High Dynamic Range software. The buildings in the reflection are glass towers of PPG Place.

Love me some Vintage Gran Prix. Its the one thing I miss since leaving the burg, that and going to Toms Diner at 4 am.

So that means the race is this weekend? Will you be on the fairway? Make sure to take pics and
post them here of yours and the other rotaries parked with you.

No, I'm leaving for the Canadian Rockies early tomorrow morning so I am going to miss the weekend racing. It's probably the last time the weekend weather for the Grand Prix won't include rain, blistering heat and high humidity.

Did to FB: Installed rally tires/wheels for purely cosmetic reasons, gave it a bath, then drove it to a meet.

The GoPro footage of the cruise didn't really turn out too good, probably will not post it.

I made it to the car show for the Pittsburgh vintage grand prix. A 200 mile drive both ways for me, and no problems at all. I put more miles on the car this weekend that the last owner did in 20 years.
There were only a couple rotaries there, I had the only first gen, there were two FDs, on RX-8, and a 3-rotor cosmo (which left before I took this picture).

Also, crossed a useful milestone, 77,777 original miles:

They're OEM for the Limited model. A set turns up on ebay every now and then, mine are original to the car.

I think I like them a bit better than the standard SA waffle wheels!

Well I like the waffles better than my stock "+" wheels. Those wheels remind me a lot of the Cromodora wheels that were popular on Italian cars in the 70's and 80's.

Just having another crack at this today...

The pinion angle change is SO minimal by design, that I could actually allow this amount of droop if I cared to, and nothing would bind (like factory) or separate (driveshaft falling out). Pretty intense.

The 79 Limited wheel is a waffle in my opinion. It's just a variation of the standard pattern that is a little more aggressive looking.

Lot of people say they strongly resemble the Campagnolo wheels of the period, too.

All you people hating on the + wheels. I don't mind them in the slightest.
