Water pump housings?

So I'm just curious if all housings are the same??
I damaged my water pump housing beating on it to free it from the front housing. It was rusted so bad it had literally welded itself on. It's so scaled, and corroded inside. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to save??
But I have to wonder if the later 13b aluminum housings would fit my 12a?
Do they have the same style pump?
Would other housings fit It??

It will fit but there is some small differences in one of the holes. I don't remember the details but hopefully someone comes along to fill you in.

I might actually be able to save mine?
I was beating on the alternator mount part of it.. I had pieces of cast iron flying all over the place!! I got a bit angry..
But I've welded cast before. I could build it up, and reshape it.
Or even just smooth out the hammer marks, and use a bit of jb weld to make it look pretty.. lol

I made a write-up on how to do it.

Follow KCREPU's advice. I will be running an FC TII water pump aluminum housing with an FC water pump on my upcoming build, and have the same setup on the engine currently in my car. I've done it a total of 3 times and it's a great way to save on some weight on the front end of the car.
