Two-tone SA interiors
Was wondering if anyone had some information on the unusual SA two-tone dash interiors. I've seen two combos - red/brown and brown/tan. I've also seen some plaid or checkered seats in the red/brown interior version. Seems to be fairly common among the early SA's, but not so much after that. Just curious if anyone had more info about this. Thanks.

78-79 (model year 79) only, and this mostly in early production cars, late 79s all went mono-chrome like the 80 SAs. Acquired taste, but certainly more eye-candy than later cars. Kind of a "That 70s Show" feel ;). I had a Bronze 79 early production '7 (no map pockets; hood support on pass side; single door mirror) with the 2-tone for a while.
Could have been mazda's answer to similar interiors in the Porsche 924 at that time...? Stu Aull 80GS Alaska |
Plaid cloth accents were a popular sports-car styling choice in the 70's. Started with the Brits, I believe.

Ahhh yes, the Brit Triumph the Brits wish we'd forget...
what a tragically-awful car (I used to sell 'em). Tho in kindness the TR-8 with the Buick/Rover V-8 was kinda sweet... Stu Aull 80GS Alaska |
