Took the fb to a twisty road
 

So it was my first time on a pretty hard twisty road, we always go to this road when we come to sanjose. It's pretty safe minus there's bikers so good brakes are a plus, today there was no bike riders though :rolleyes:

Hicks Road - San Jose, California

In my FC, max speeds were probably 100-110mph. This was with no muffler just a corksport catback pipe (muffler got stolen) the backfiring was amazing, it was like clapping on the ground :D, that time I was against our bmw 735i which my fc just took flight on.
I had one major fuck up when I went into the gravel next to a guard rail, luckly I got the front tires to grip and then slid around the rest of the corner on the other side :lol:
In turns normal speeds were 50-70mph

So in the fb I was getting the hang of it at first, the outer edges of my tires are balding and I felt that before on roads similar to this where if i hit a slight bump while turning it'll slide a tad. So far so good, tires must of been warmer then that other day :dunno:

I was fallowing a new G37 we took before, kept up nicely and then the G37 fallowed me :lol: always on my tail :(

The only scary part was before a quick turn I pushed the brakes to drop down to 2nd I think and then the rear end started locking a sliding a tad (was bumpy) whats odd is my brakes are very weak and I wasnt pushing them hard (Nor was I turning yet) so for the rest of the ride I didn't push it as hard as I feared loosing control due to my funky brakes.

The fb was able to handle 40-50 no tire squealing or sliding, its not "easy" though, I never realised how much more you have to put in with manual steering/tranny. The main downfall of the FB (having the G37 catch up) was my brakes dont stop fast and the hills, the 12a just can't power up hills without high rpms :(

Very fun road if your ever in sanjose it's easy to get to, it's pretty much a continuous road with maybe 1 stop you dont have to obey (the road fell off right there so you gotta go in the other lane, but they got a stop too nobody goes fast there :rolleyes:. I've seen other guys in sports cars ripping it up, it's nice that people keep it safe on there for the bike riders :)

I'll try to get a video camera and mount it next time I come, it's literally driving like this every few seconds

Left right straight left straight right straight left straight -- bumpy bridge rear end slips a tad -- straight left.

Even in my fc the lil bridges would cause the rear end to go out a few inches

I need to get new brakes, struts, and maybe RB shocks & I'll take it to hicks again and feel how the fb handles again, should be a good comparison to the bouncy ride I got now :dunno:

Be careful dude, when I was in high school the cops used to set up camp around there. I don't know how it is nowadays, but I know a bunch of guys who have gotten busted up around there (myself included). I used to drive from Shannon Road in Los Gatos all the way out past Guadalupe reservoir then flip a bitch at Mt. Umnum and go back the way I came.

Fun drive, as long as you don't get busted ... Just be safe :icon_tup:

Damn never expected to hear from another person that knows that area.

The roads pretty dead at the times we go, I've never seen a cop either :S

but yes always be safe, I'd rather not hurt someone so its just spirited driving.

I mean, who knows what it's like up there these days. I haven't been up there since high school so it's been 4 or 5 years at least... :dunno:

Here in colorado the mountains and foothills serve as ample areas to test the handling of vehicles. The great part is that the posted speed limits are general for certain sections of the road. While the limit may be 45 miles per hour, I've maybe (comfortably) pushed 35-40 through some hairpins. The bad though is that on one side of the road, there is generally cliff faces, and the other side is generally a cliff. Its a nice change from urban driving though for sure.

The FB is stock w/bad suspension so I wasn't pushing it near what I could do hell if they blocked off the road to bikes and traffic I could probably push 60-70 on some turns and 100+ on the straights in the FB if it had new suspension parts.

Now that would be intense, it was nice to keep up w/a G37, if I downshifted up the hills more and had better brakes or trusted mine more I'd of been able to tail the G37 bumper to bumper. :)

FB's are incredibly fun. There is a certain x factor that's almost indescribable. The car just feels so alive. I just wish I had roads around here that were fun....

There's "shit your pants" exciting, and there's "jizz your pants" exciting. Too many close calls on my hand i guess for me to justify hugging a gard rail above a 30ft drop.

^Well the worst that happened to me was I hit the turn going about 90 slowing down to 60-70, somehow the cars front right got in the gravel (No idea how fast I was going atleast 60) then the rear, then I tapped the brakes and it got back on the road and slid around the hair pin corner.

that guard rail was a death drop to the water, I didn't hit anything but was very very close.

Very true, can't imagin how 300+ hp is gonna feel :lol:
