What I'd like to know is if people are interested, and what they would like to see in the advertisement for the car when I post it online after the 14th of this month.

I am in the Chicagoland area(Illinois), and am getting ready to place a 1980 RX-7 up for sale. I literally started out tonight by registering here on line.

I am the 2nd owner. Illinois car, garaged since new, and put up on blocks 31 years ago in 1987 with around 110,000 miles on it. The car is accident free, no sunroof, very little rust over the wheel wells. I put the car up on blocks because I thought that the engine had "spun" and was freewheeling on me, but in all likelihood all that it needed was a new clutch. I was very young, never owned a Rotary before, and did not know any better.

I will be down in Chicago on March 14th and I will try and get some pictures of the car to put it up for sale at that time. I may/may not be able to get good photographs. The car is on blocks. The original wheels are in the basement of the home. Where the wheel lugs are is anyone's best guess. Assuming I sell the car, whoever buys it will have to supply the wheel lugs and flatbed it out. The car has not been started in all this time.

Anyone interested should let me know what I need to do to close the sale. I'd like to sell it in March of 2018.

The car had a Koni gas shock and coils added to it along with stainless brake lines abt a year before it went up on blocks.

You will sell the car for less since it's not running IMO. If it was running I think you'll get more. If you just want it out then I'd leave it as is.

Nothing magical about constructing a good for sale ad. I like to see some overall pictures from all sides, and detail pictures of things that may be considered problems or blemishes. I think you want to highlight the bad as well as the good, just to provide full disclosure and give potential buyers as much information as possible. Of course they will use it to justify a lower price, but it's much better to negotiate from here, rather than have someone feel like the seller may be hiding something. Good detail pictures of the engine bay, interior and maybe under the vehicle too.

Mention rust and a lot of forum members may want to see pictures of the area under the panel directly behind the seats. 81 and later cars had storage bins located here. Your 1980 will just have twin metal panels covered in carpet, which is harder to remove to see the floor pan area underneath.

Lots of pics - as other suggest - and detailed descriptions are the key to selling, regardless of condition. Good pics are a must, so if you need to set up some work lights or something where the car is to show it in good detail, you will be well rewarded for the effort. If not in $$ (due to condition), certainly in speed of the sale. So it really depends how bad you want to get rid of it.

OK. Will do my best with the pictures, but the vehicle is up on blocks and it is right against the garage wall. Wheels are in the basement. Should be down in to Chicago to visit the car around the 22nd of March, 2018. Will upload whatever I have at that time.

Unfortunately for me, I really need to move the car, so even if it's worth $2500+ I'll be letting it go for significantly less.

Will do! My intent since signing on was to see how lively the site was. If it was dead, then I'd have to try Hemmings, Craigslist or some other mechanism to sell it. I'm also selling a 2001 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van with blown head gaskets. Selling vehicles is tougher than I thought. Even junkyards don't call back(for the van).
