Stripped for stripping
 

This was posted on my build thread, but wanted to share with a broader audience. I love working on small lightweight cars. The chassis is so wonderfully balanced. Safety minded people, the car is now strapped in and secured and supported. The hydraulics are not supporting the weight.

What is the car sitting on?

It's resting on the hoist's legs and the rocker panel at the door jam. My goal is to strip out the old undercoating. Epoxy primer from SPI or perhaps House of Kolor. I am preparing the car for the next 40 years and beyond.

That doesn't look safe. I'm not sure I'd want all that weight on the sheet metal.

If you are going that far, why not setup some mounting brackets for the front and rear bumper hard points and hook those into an engine stand and your engine hoist? I have some plans that I was basing something similar to build my 84. I decided on lying on the ground underneath 4 6 ton jack stands instead.

Are you going to apply any new undercoating or POR 15 when the old stuff is off?

I feel the epoxy primer is better than POR15. I do not believe that I will be re undercoating.

POR15 is a rust convertor. Epoxy primer is not.

I assume this comment was for mazdaverx713b, I will be media blasting the undercarriage. Epoxy primer is perfect for this project. It just needs a clean surface.

Boy that's a 1-Ton Harbor Freight cherry picker too, that would make me super nervous. I have a 2-Ton HF engine hoist and I wouldn't attempt this personally.

Congrats on the shade-tree style though, so long as it doesn't kill you and it works - who cares?!
