Spark problem, maybe not a problem?

Sorry if this is covered else where I couldn’t find it if it is. I’ve got an 84 with 12a street port built by Atkins rotary, Weber 48, racing beat headers and dfis using a msd6al with 3 blast coils. I did the dfis around 8-10 years ago and just got the car back operational and noticed I have no spark on the trail plugs. From what I’ve found about dfis it seems that’s the way dfis is. If I am correct that you don’t need spark from the trail plugs why are they wired to a coil and have plug wires ran to them. If they should fire... I have replaced the coil for trail, the ignitor, cap and rotor, plugs and wires. Thanks for any help

You don't need trailing, it doesn't add any power but does make the idle smoother and helps clean up the exhaust a bit. Did trailing ever work? Did you put the trailing coil wire to the right input on the cap to match the output for the trailing wires? Check the trailing coil wire to see if it sparks as it goes to the dizzy. If it doesn't then you have a coil issue or wiring issue to the coil. We would need to see or understand the wiring setup to really help you out in detail.

Problem solved! Needed 12v switched power to the trail coil. I can warm up the car In the garage now without my eyes burning.
