So, i drove the SA the other day. didnt know i could miss driving an rx7 so much.
 

after not driving the SA for a long time i was able to the other day. Due to being in college and not having a lot of funds i have been unable to insure it. after doing some research i found a solution. i sent in my application o grundy insurance earlier today. as long as it goes well the SA will be legal to drive next week!! No more having to go to meets without an rx7 :(

Ya, I already miss mine but it is not winter worthy yet, so I'll wait for summer and have a blast.

The do have a unique feel. Mine even has the factory smell. I invite people to "come smell the 80's".

I had a similar experience when I got to drive the '81 S that now belongs to Jeff20B. In fact, it inspired me to get my old '83 GSL back, and now I'm very glad I did. I'm never letting it go again.

when..my dad gave me my 83 s...i was just thinking it was gonna be a car before i bought a 240sx...once..i really got to learn about it and drive..it..i now know i am never gonna get rid of this car..i almost sold it...i will always own an rx7

I got a ride in the '83 GSL today and I said holy crap because it was that awesome.

Looks like I'm building a new 12A for the S based on the nice one in the '83. Same ports, same carb setup, same or similar exhaust. It will tide me over and teach me how to drive a 7 at limit. Then I'm confident the 20B will take it to the next level, should I choose to do the swap.

I wrecked mine a little while ago, you never realise how much they mean to you untill its too late. If I could trade back all the joy rides, all the drifting, bagging, just driving like a morron I did, just so I could have her back, I'd be a very happy man. Driving just isn't the same when its not in an RX7.

Is the Grundy Insurance the one where they determine whether or not your car is going to be a collectable, or if it is antique or something, and give you a flat rate per month?
I had a friend go to an insurance company like that and he got full coverage and pays like $30 a month. Not bad aye? Or am I thinking of something completely different?

Me too, it's Really snowy November-April, and I store my car in the old garage, because It doesn't do well even in the rain, back end flying everywhere, and I don't want to get my underside all salty. 2 and a half months aprox. to go till I can drive her again! Man I hate the snow with a passion. All my friends skii, except for me, so there is no need to look forward to snow.

Yea I have seen that road salt tear up the underbody of various vehicles.

Yeah I got my 83 S a few years ago daily drove it up until June of last year. I got an FC to Daily drive so the FB can be down for rebuild/project. It got boring pretty fast and I was putting more money in it than I wanted to. So I traded it for my 69K mile 79 SA. I try and find things I need just to get out and drive it. I'll never go without a 1st gen again.

well to cover my car wth grundy was $105 a year, but they wont cover me cause im under 25. im now in the process of getting insurance with hagerty. i have to send them some pics of my car and some other document. i hope to have all of that taken care of next week. through them itll be valued at $5000 with no deductible for $320 a year.

i hope this works out.

Front tire looks like pressure is low. Yea when I was younger I had insurance problems. I paid like 400 a month for my 300zx. The insurance was more expensive than the car payment haha. My FB is only like $15 bucks a month nowdays with perfect record and a few years forward.

Good luck getting insurance, that rate is very cheap (compared to NJ at least!) I know what you mean, I drive my Accord most of the winter, only take the FB out a few times, to keep salt off of it. When I do take it out its like pure bliss... I miss daily driving mine.....

whelp, i just got off the phone with hagerty. shes insured starting next monday!!

yeah the front tires wont hold air. i need to find a shop that specializes in 3 piece wheels to reseal them for me

I think there is an annual mileage restriction, but I think it is still enough to get from here to there as a DD. Just as long as its not commuting from city to city or something of that sort.

But man, After comparing yours with mine, having a good condition center console makes a huge difference in the appearance of the interior. I need to tweak my engine/etc a bit to get it running but, I seeing your reaction to yours makes me thrive to complete my project.

To me, the SA's look great with the thin black moldings on the side... especially with a silver body. If you ever want to consider the moldings but would like to see pictures of it first, I can take pictures of my ride if you like, just let me know.

^^ i wouldnt mind seeing those pics. i have all of the molding and have debating putting it back on.

IIRC, i have searched and searched the hagerty site and i cant find a number for mileage limitation. i think it has one, but im not sure how much it is. i know it doesnt require we to tell them my mileage or anything. they didnt ask for my odometer reading. so how would they ever know?

also, if youre over 25 go with grundy.com. they have no mileage limitation and were WAY cheaper, but im too young. for them it was only $105 a year

I'm sure Grundy can wait 6 more years till they get my business. HAH!

i got a good deal on them. when i have more funds i will have them redone and ill also powder coat the centers. im not sure what color il go with. probably gold though.
