Looks the same to me.

But this is not really a "B.S." section it's got a lot of serious stuff like the registry and paint & wheel issues.

Casual club maybe but B.S.

What got into your britches? lol:scratch:

well this section used to be the 1st gen section and nobody minded the non- tech stuff in with the tech stuff but for some reason they split it and the non tech section is dead. why split it? it was fine before

Jeezus 10-16-08 06:55 PM

I like it better this way than before. This way we have the serious tech questions in the first gen section, and the not so serious "what color for my car/check out the wheels I got/I got a new 7" non technical section.

Its gonna be OK Robert!

rotorheadguy 10-16-08 07:01 PM

i think the split took place because there was a time in the single first gen section when things were slow in the modding dept.
so there was a disproportionate amount of non-tech stuff happening.
just my observation tho, i have nothing to back that up with.

idk it seems slow around here to me too, i don't post much but i'm on here reading an awful lot.
maybe its not that its a lack of information being posted so much as a lack of "new" information from the point of view of someone who has been here for awhile.
more new users = more old hat and the same questions being asked.

could just be me...

i think i've noticed the same thing happen on another board i frequent tho,
maybe it is related to less spending on toys for our cars. winter is coming for my area.
i'm not spending as much thats for sure. as far as people not just hanging out here tho, i don't have a clue.

rotorheadguy 10-16-08 07:05 PM

on a side note, i'm at a draw with the tech/non-tech vs. single forum. i like it cause i have a greater interest in the tech stuff and i don't have to wade thru the
'hey look whats on ebay this week' threads. but at the same time i forget to come in
here alot because it is separate.

i've been a member of this forum for a few years now and i really enjoy it here. i enjoy being a member and a moderator. a lot of great people here and as sad as this sounds, i check this forum multiple times daily. the non tech sections are great because it allows us to get away from the tech side a little and enjoy different aspects of our cars. its nice to have the sections separated in my opinion. gives you a finer searching and reading aspect.

as for the forum slowing down, i really dont think so. the numbers may not be exact year to year but the members are strong. there are people here that make an account, sell a car or parts and are gone. some people make an account and check the board once every 6 months, some like myself and Rx7doctor, and Aaroncake, DirectFreak, raygreen, Jeezus, Mickster, vipernicus, trochoid..etc are very solid and contributing members (not saying that others arent, just saying that those are a few that come to mind as members i see online a lot) ..so everything is hit or miss. we take the good with the bad and i'm still proud to call myself a member and spread the word to local 7 owners.

you don't have to be a highly skilled mechanic , or live and breath engine performance to be an RX7 enthusiast.

this forum has always seemed to me to be able to allow everyone to find something to share , learn and enjoy about these cars . whether its "rx7 in the movies" , or some complex boost problem that only a few people really have the skills and experience to discuss.

there should be sections for all types of dialogue , its been great for me and has created a car hobby where there was none . It sure gets me through the winter where I am ....... my $0.02

Dude. It's the variety of non-technical posts, like your antagonistic query, that make this forum stimulating and worthwhile for me to come back to each day. I've made friends, had fun, learned a lot, and contributed as much as I can.

Thanks for adding to the discussion. Please come back soon.

I like the non-tech section so I don't have to wade through a bunch of "see my wheels/color/hood" post in the tech section. I love NA section as thats one of my favs to see great tech discussions.

I do think the economy is hitting the site in various ways directly and indirectly. Folks aren't able to spend money or maybe as much time on the site due to second jobs or extra hours or maybe unemployment hit and their net connection got dropped. I wouldn't be surprised to see the traffic fall off, especially on threads selling stuff.

One thing I did notice is that the advertising on the site is killing the interactive experience because it takes so long for the adwords and other ad bits to get refreshed to the screen. Most of this slowness is caused by the third party ad sites being slow or just plain old DNS resolution slowing things down. I used to always view my threads using the threaded display mode but I switched back to using linear mode because for some very long threads (> 1000 replies) the refresh took forever. I complained about it but never saw a response. I also added the Firefox plugin Adblock Plus which helped winnow out all the adwords and ads in general. As a vendor that won't make you happy but as a user it works fine for me.
