for any interior or exerior plastic, i always use Meguire's Plastx polish after cleaning with simple green. it works to remove any scratches from the instrument cluster and clear plastic as well. i will never not have a bottle on hand in the garage! http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/detail/MEG+G12310

I actually already have a bottle of that, I never thought to use it on black plastic.

I have not tried the Meguires plastix polish, (yet) I got the Mothers version. I have come to like a brand called Race Glaze. They have a plactic and leather renewer that I've had good sucess with fan shrouds, interior parts and even tires.

Over the weekend I picked up some Mothers Back to Black for the side trim and mirrors. I thought it might also work good on the fan shroud.

Your bay looks nice RX Chris. Most guys are more into a modified, clean (sparse) look now a days. I lean to the original look like yours. Here's some shots of three cars I have. Two 79's and an 80. Once you start cleaning, it only makes the not so nice things stand out like a sore thumb. Just keep polishing the rough spots down finer and finer untill it all shines...

Wow! All I can say is that the inside of your engine bay is extremely clean. What year is yours, by the way?
