Pictures of my water injection install - Cooling mist Vari-cool

Hey guys. Just thought I would post up a few pictures of the water injection install me and my friend did on my car. Kit is the vari-cool stage 2 kit from Cooling mist with dual nozzles, and the stainless steel braided hose option.

Please excuse the bit of wheel well rust as it will be fixed later on. Just body work is my least favourite thing to do.

The install was easy, the biggest issue we had was finding an area to mount the tank. My engine bay is getting packed and I wanted an area where I could easily pour more water/methanol in.

dan how much did that run yah? Did you use a solenoid setup?

Qbuilt 05-05-08 10:54 PM

Looking good Dan. Did you want me to bring you some wire loom? JK. Pm me if you want that connector soon.

It ended up being about $800 ish the stainless steel braided option brought that up quite a bit becase you need completely different fittings.

The system does not use solenoids but instead pulse width modulates the pump to get the required flow.

Looks great Dan!

I am not sure if the distance to the intake is a problem or not, as I have not researched it.

Do yourself a favor, it's good advice I should have followed myself along time ago. Get the Car running/tuned first. Then screw around with all the toys you are adding. All those toys (like water injection) at once will make troubleshooting and tuning a nightmare.

Enjoy the car, and upgrade it as you get all the kinks ironed out. There WILL be KINKS.

Damn, bestiality should be illegal.

I know what you mean. I am starting to realize that but the issue is that the main thing I need to get the car running is time. Which lately has been kind of hard to come by.

So close right now just finishing up alot of the electrical mess. Seems like it is almost never ending. Also Alex, what I am planning on doing is having alot of these toys disabled until I get some seat time in the car and find all the little problems.

Thanks for the tips.

I think its a great product. I have been running it on my TII swap. Never went to a dyno to see if it made a difference or not. I am running 100% meth. I did it to increase the octane rating on the gas we get here in Cali 91.

Very important. Make sure you install a clog nozzle sensor and clean the nozzles every couple of months. My nozzle clogged after just a few months of use.

here is a tank robert at the rotaryshack had fabbed for me (passenger side firewall). Its aluminum. Its been zinc plated since this pick so now its black. Meth was eating the tank. I mounted my controller in the center console. The pump is mounted in the cowl area. As everyone else I can't wait to see your car running.
