I found a craigslist ad last week for a 79 for cheep somewhat local and went and got it.

Orig owner, said he pre ordered it, 3/78 and 501532 He had parked it in 92 and had been in the same spot till I got it. Has an RE blockoff plate and Looks like RE header, He said it has an RB lightweight flywheel. 150K on the clock.

Grats! That's a early car all right, when the frame stamp is on the left side like that.

Yes, congrats. I really like your family photo. Your newest member has that old "Rat Rod" look to it. Kinda cool I think! I never realized the earlier vehicles were ID'd on the drivers side. I learned something new. Thx!

Nice to know that it has found it's way into good hands. :)

How's the underbody? Any rust?

I know that 7aull will chime in with all the early car differences he is better at it than I am.

they also lacked map pockets on the door cards, the door card/dash trim strip has 2 chrome lines, they lacked a passenger side mirror, hood prop rod on the passenger side and was attached to the hood, the door data plates are metal instead of a sticker, the ft motor mount bracket is welded metal istead of bent, base model cars came with a 4speed can't think of anymore off the top of my head.

If you are planning to restore her let me know i might be able to help you with pics of early cars

Good luck

DAVE

What about the speaker holes in the dash that didn't have a speaker? Or is that on later model SAs as well?

Jeezus 09-25-09 05:50 PM

Is this one going to be red as well? Nice score!
