Original Luce R130 Rotary Coupe on ebay - pix!

Heads-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123

or just punch in the item number: 290187757948

It's the Real Deal - an immaculate 1970-ish R130 Luce Coupe "for sale" in New Z.
He's asking the World for it - but emails with him indicates he's really just blowing smoke, more to show off the car (although if someone ponied up the $75K?...?)- and IT IS AMAZING if you dig the old school rotaries!
Lots of smallish :( pix but more detail than I have ever seen on this beautiful Bertone-designed coupe PLUS a couple of YouTube Links to movies of it too. Only some 950 made and this must be one of the few survivors, certainly outside of Nippon-

ENJOY!

13A and front wheel drive. Utterly rare and amazing. If I had the dough I would so go for it

very nice car indeed. i've personally only ever seen pictures of the car and never one in person. at that price it looks as if seeing one in my garage may never happen.

That is a nice car.

I have always wanted to see one in person.

Great car, price seems outa wack though. Wonder why mazda never went back to the FWD rotary?

mazdaverx713b 12-04-07 11:42 AM

because they decided that the rotary was best suited in a sports car

Jeff20B 12-06-07 04:33 PM

The only FWD I would be proud to drive would have to be rotary powered.

challer2000 12-07-07 12:06 PM

Looks nice

Thanks for your positive comments on my Luce. I'm glad you think the price is only a "tad" high. :icon_tup:

13A. thats no mistype they really had 13A motors in the r130 (also hence the 130) it was 1.3 liter but a total different blueprint than the 13B.

Thats correct, nearly all Mazda production Wankel engines share a single rotor diameter: 105 mm (4.1 in) with a 15 mm (0.6 in) crankshaft offset. The only engine to diverge from this formula was the rare 13A, which used a 120 mm (4.7 in) diameter and 17.5 mm (0.7 in) offset. This makes for great torque at low RPM. "A stroked rotary"

if you know all of those numbers off the top of your head then you are fucking awesome. if you took the time to look them up & write them here, still fucking awesome

I wish i could say I rattled those numbers off the top of my head but sad to say I'm not a hardcore rotary geek. I simply copy/pasted those figures from another site. :)
