Options for SA fog lights?
I've always wanted to stick some yellow foggies on the SA. Who else has done this, and what does it look like? Where did you run the relay from? I'd like to maybe run the relay from one of the headlight motors so the only come on when the headlights are on.

Meh, not a fan of the above--too modern looking.
I went with the Hella 550. You can get one of those yellow plastic kits is you want them yellow. I should also point out, these are not fog lights but driving lights which means you can keep the frog eyes down and still get plenty of light just make sure you have a good (FD) alternator. I like the position of DivinDriver's lights, but I'd like a set that are about the same size/shape as the turn signals on a stock front end. You can buy yellow bulbs. I have them in my s5 and love the look. Yellow seems to cut through the rain and fog better too. You don't think the old 55 amp alternator is up to the challenge? I'm sure I could score an 80 amp series 5 alternator for cheap.

The lights sat in my garage in the box for ages; I only put them on a year or two ago. |

Well, its not an SA and the lights are not at all similar to the turn signals, but here's the route I took. I put 130 watt bulbs in them, and they lit the road up for a mile. I used to worry about hitting deer when driving at night, but with these on the deer would turn into puddles of fat and grizzle before I got to them. :)
Also, I ran these on the stock 55 watt alternator without issue... . |
Wow they look bright even when they're off! They're the size of the headlights.

Maybe something like this, but a tad smaller. Mounted in the same spot as DivinDriver's lights.

lol, you should have seen them when they were turned on. I had them wired up with a relay and a switch, so when I had the high beams on (and the switch turned on) they would light up. Then, if a car was coming, I just had to dim the lights like normal to turn them off. Or, if the car was a long way down the road, I could flip the switch and keep the high beams on until they were close enough to have to dim those.
But basically, they were so bright that I needed the option of a very quick method to turn them off before I caused an accident. Those lights have since deceased due to picking up some cones at an autocross. Now I have a relay that allows me to keep my low beams on along with the high beams, which makes more of a difference than you would think. The last couple of weeks I've been toying with the idea of picking up another set though. All of the wiring is still in place for them, so it would be an easy install. Another thing, if you haven't upgraded the stock headlight wiring yet, you should do so. Running heavy gauge wiring (I used 10 gauge) for the power, and a relay to control them, makes one hell of a difference. The proper bulbs help a lot too, I use Xtra Vision lights, and they are actually much brighter and more useable than the Silverstar bulbs. :) |

I would love to do a night event! Imagine, glow in the dark cones! :) It would be like playing a video game, but with actual G forces. lol

Info on additional fog/driving lights; want more details
Already replacing upgrading stock headlights. Want to add some fog/driving lights. Would like some more details or advice. Really like the set-up that Kentetsu uses. Love the big round lights.

If you want Original 80s-cool Fog lamps (and have deep pockets), then Daniel Stern's Cibies are the 80s way to go! Had these back in the day. Superb construction (polished metal and chrome, excellent optics)
