OK, so it's not an RX-7, but I just bought a cool car I think you guys will like!!
My two "old school" loves of cars are 1st gen RX-7's and Old School VW Bugs... Well I had the RX-7, now I have both!
My first car was a VW, and I drove them for years. Now that I am older, I wanted another one. It is a 1966 (same year I was born). I bought it fully restored which is nice. Put the key in and go! Cruised to Newport Beach the first day and went to a VW cruise in last night. It fits right in here in SoCal! Enjoy the pics! http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/o...ba/photo16.jpg http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/o...ba/photo13.jpg http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/o...ba/photo14.jpg http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/o...ba/photo15.jpg http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/o...ba/photo18.jpg http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/o...ba/photo11.jpg VW Cruise in... http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/o...Cuba/photo.jpg |
I had two of those.....one '84 and after that a '73. Always enjoyed the simplicity of these cars. But you have a nice one:icon_tup:
|
Very pretty. My first car too, a tan '69 beetle. It was two years old, I was 19.
I want one. |

Thats a sharp bug! I used to have a 64 set up as a baja bug with the old BIG lug pattern....they are fun cars. Body finally got so much rust in it I pulled it apart and used a lot of its mechanicals to build a rail buggy...
|
Nice little grocery-getter there, Jim.
|
Good stuff...congrats!
|
I LOVE it!!!! The colors and the luggage rack are perfect!!!
|
Put a rotary in it! Thats what I want to do as a future project.
Thats a clean example for a 66 tho. Looks like fun. |
i like it, that's really clean. needs period correct steering wheel though
|
Thanks for the compliments and comments. I agree.... the steering wheel looks out of place.
Now I know this is not a VW forum, but hey we are all car guys and probably a lot of us are ex-bug owners... I will ask you guys for your opinion on a steering wheel.. Details coming! |
I am thinking one of these... Your opinion please and then I am back to talking about Mazdas!!http://www.flat4.co.jp/japanese/dtail-in.html#DR-704

That one is better, but I would go bone stock for that car.
|
Looks great! Very nice buy!

Felix Wankel was German. The Japenese just bought the rights. A rotary bug would be kind of like, what if things had gone differently. BTW, do you ever notice anyone getting smacked in the arm as you drive by?
