not new here but new to FB's......check mine out

after not haveing an rx7 for a year or so i decided to pick on up..this time i wanted something different considering ive always owned FC's

well here she is, 1985 GS..ive drove the car 50 miles back to my house last night. im sure im going to have alot questions for you guys and ive been searching my butt off already

here ya go:

Street ported 12A with 40k miles on rebuild
racing beat intake manifold
Weber 45 DCOE carbs
Carter fuel pump, Holley regulator and gauge
Racing Beat Header and "Street Port" exhaust.
Eibach springs: Fronts are 260 lbs or so, and rears are 145 lbs or so. These are not coil overs. These are the Eibach Pro-Kit springs. They are slightly harsh on bumpy roads but tolerable.
Shocks: front Koni low pressure gas, rears Tokico blue non-adjustables.
Sway bars: Suspension Techniques 1-1/8" front, adjustable rear 17mm
Limited Slip Differential

all bushings, bearings and lines were replaced by previous owner. the car drives great, has a few minor issues but great none the less

very nice, how much did that set you back? and i could be wrong, but i dont think racing beat made a sidedraft manifold. wanna sell the rims?

Well, you picked up what looks a mint 1st gen with a good start on all of the right mods. I'm nosy, so what did you have to give for it?

Welcome to the 1st gen forum, home of the 'real' RX7 enthusiasts. In my sig line you will find links to get you started. Be sure to read through the FAQs and download the manuals that you need.

What are the other minor problems have you found so far? As far as the thumpy ride on rough roads, it's most likely due to the shocks/struts. The Eibach Pros have progressive rate springs. If you want to drop the cash, purchase a set of Tokico Illumina adjustables, not cheap but they will give you some tuneability to compensate for road and temperature conditions.

thanks guys...

i paid 2300 bux for the car. the pictures do make the car look a little cleaner than it is but considering that its basically all original other than the motor and suspension i thinks its in excellent shape.

the pic of the engine bay is from the previous owner...he swapped out the intake manifold in the pic for the racing beat version before he sold me the car.

i will get bigger more recent pics very soon.

problems the car has:

the ignition switch or starter is going out. most of the time when i attempt to start the car it does nothing.when im lucky to get it to crank the starter almost has grinding type noise (just noticed this noise today)

the brakes make a clunking sound when i press the pedal. sounds like metal clang but there is no grinding during braking

few rattles under the car...

i need to learn how to adjust the carb and where to set the idle. the motor is ported and seems just slightly hesitant when reving it.

other than that its just little routine minor stuff. havent even used 1/4 tank and driven 74 miles....that makes me happy considering that my DD (02 lexus is300) gets crap for fuel economy.

hahaha.....nope, im not selling the wheels....i know how pimp they are....hehehe

Great looking car, welcome also. i love my bumpy ride. thing about the illumina's is they make the car really stiff and the eibach really stiffin's the car as well i have 2 1st gens with them on it but it really makes the cars handle like there on rails

Nice find, and at a nice price.
I almost went with Eibach prokit, but I found a smokin deal on GC coilovers and Eibach springs all around. Haven't recieved them yet, but they are within 100 miles of my house....

upon further inspection of the pics i posted i noticed that i dont have the carb in the pics. i have a mikuni thats looks similar....

anyone know about the mikuni carbs?
