Nice 82 For Sale in Japan
PHOTO LIBRARY | ???.com
its a really nice car, the badging is interesting, and the power windows! asking price is about $24k US |
Oh, a 6 port 12A. Cool.
|
fascinated they persisted in using the speaker-holed dash pad, l-o-o-o-ong after they disappeared here with the mid 79s!
Perhaps because the base models there (they offered at least 4 trim levels) came with a mono-radio. Or at least the 78-80s did. JDM cars went down the same road with door mirrors as the World-spec -7s did, a-la Porsche-style; N America being the exception. Thx for the post Jeff- Stu Aull 80GS AZ |
Gentleman I'm going to have to disagree with this one, I'm sorry. The cheesy aftermarket power window switch is terrible.... The badges are not in their correct locations what so ever and I think its someone custom job after a repaint. The steering wheel is a nice touch and the seats look wonderful. The 6 port 12A is a great feature as well. But for top dollar, I would want it completely unmolested.

agree. Stock = $$ on this vintage of car. maybe they roll differently in JDM world?

In Japan, modified cars are worth more than stock ones. i assume this is because Japanese consumers are messed up in the head. |

Thx for the post Jeff- Stu Aull 80GS AZ Alsi, Australian models kept the same style electric door mirrors as US models unlike other RHD markets like Japan and UK (as well as LHD version for Continental Europe). I actually thought all Japanese 81-83 cars came with fender mirrors - never seen them with door mirrors. I believe this car was modified to accept the 84-85 mirrors, hence the aftermarket switches. 84-85 Japanese models came with 4 styles of mirror: manual door mirrors on th GT, electric door mirrors on the GT-X, LTD and SE-LTD , and fender mirrors in both manual and electric type on the GT-J. Most of those specs came in both 6PI and turbo versions. So, yes, they had lots of different spec levels! |
^^^ Things you learn. I don't care for the fender mirror look personally so that aspect wouldn't bother me. Odd that they retained the dash with the speaker grill. What a pain to replace that thing.

Nice car but that's a hefty price tag for something like that!

FWIW, I went back on some of my reference materials and it was the bottom GT-J spec that came with AM radio and single dash-mounted speaker only. |

There's a place in my city that does dash restoration by applying new vacuum formed vinyl, even using matching grain and colour. For an extra $50 they'll even punch the speaker holes like the original! I was going to do this but managed to find an uncracked original, still with the speak holes in place. I actually have the alarm siren positioned behind it.
