ps... AWESOME pics btw Motor is stock with Racing Beat streetport exhaust. Modded Nikki carb done by myself, direct fire ignition MSD 6A plus 3 MSD coils..... lots of love! Mods to come this year will be caster/camber plates, completely rebuilt front end, more lightening of the car. Next year, coil overs, very lightweight flywheel and lightweight clutch, maybe Megasquirt fuel injection with Fuji ITB's....(still trying to figure out if I want to go Fuel Injection, Weber sidedraft, or just stay with the Nikki) She runs so great with the Nikki!! |
man.. when i added this weber side draft with the lake city intake it was like bolting on gold. freed up alot of space, easier to work with, really responsive with fat midrange power... plus it pulls hard all the way to 8 if i need it. im pretty much in love with this carb setup. the exhaust is a little loud for my taste on long highway runs but around town its very deep and throaty. we need to meet up sometime soon so i can check out ur cars. im off from thurs to next thurs
|
btw i sold the boat for cash cuz i needed to pay off some stuff and open up more spending money for the rex:icon_tup:

you don't have that yet? that's like the first thing you should do!
I really need Camber plates now because I am only at about -1 degree right now. Sometimes I am coming on the side of the tire too much.... I think additional negative camber will help a lot!! Running higher front tire pressures have helped!! |

Very nice kill list. Definitely get the camber plates or your front tires shoulders aren't going to last very long.

I compensated by raising tire pressure from 38 to 40. This helped a lot. |
Jim, I don't know why, but the combination of sliver paint, dark interior, really low suspension, small wheels, and that white helmet makes your grape look ginormous in there... It's like the Great Gazoo stole your car or something!
Beautiful shots, sir. |

Beautiful shots, sir. I am Fat guy in a little car!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxl3RfKx62g |
I get the same effect without the helmet.... Large melon, small car.

Good looking car. Glad to see someone is trying to competitively race an FB in CSP. If you don't mind me asking though, how are you in street prepared without a passenger seat? SP requires a FULL interior.
|
You really need to look at the Respeed front swaybar too. Since I added that, I don't need nearly as much negative camber as I did with the RB bar on there. I just don't have any roll anymore, so no need for drastic camber. :)
Can't see the pics right now, but I'll check them out when I get home. Good to see you continuing to eat the Miatas too (among many other noteables), you keep me from feeling so lonely! lol . |

I may end up doing the caster/camber plates and a new alignment and call it a day. I REALLY wanted to keep with the theme of "project cheap autocrosser". I kinda broke the budget with the Panasports and Hoosiers. Those cost me $1600 which is WAY more than I have in the rest of the car!!! I would say as she sits, I have about $3000 in the whole car. I really am enjoying this autocrossing, so I will be looking into building another car in the future that will be competitive. Prolly something like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBVVssJwx2Y turbo rotary bug eye sprite!! But i will always keep project cheap autocrosser to have as a play car and one to train other people in!! |
love the pics!! looks like you had a blast!!
|
calendar worthy! please submit! They all look great! I'm too scared to auto cross my car with the price of tires.

You need to bring that up to Nationals here in Nebraska. I'd like to see what you can do against last years CSP champ since I race against him at all of our regional events and get smoked. Your car is a step or two ahead of mine in set up so far plus I'm sure you're a better driver. I'm not running but I'll be working the event, plus there should be at least half a dozen FD's and maybe a couple FC's. The sprite should be there also. It sounds amazing.

Cool project.
I have a bunch of pictures from the last autocross in this album. A couple of my V8 Volvo as well. http://picasaweb.google.com/gregory....28451844252594 If I could ever figure out how to upload these directly I would do that. Thus far I always fail. |

Nothing like seeing a Volvo wagon gettin' jiggy with it :) Heres a pic from Gregs picassa album:
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_YqZhzYNrxuY/TG...720/volvo2.jpg To get the picassa pics to link just hover over the image in picassa and right click selecting "View image" and then grab the URL that it displays with. Then do the usual cut and paste for IMG tags in your post. That way they stay on picassa and just get linked here. |

Thanks for the advice on the photos. Looks like I got it!
The Volvo is actually a decent handler once it is in its lean. Stock springs with Bilstiens and IPD Sway Bars. The only time I have problems is quick transitions where all the weight goes from one side to another. Here is the RX-7 and Volvo. I kind of have a tendancy to slide through a great deal of the course. Somehow I still end up with decent times. I rarely spin or pick up cones. And its just so much fun since I am usually the only one in my class. RX-7 (SSM) Volvo (XP) https://lh3.ggpht.com/_YqZhzYNrxuY/T...0/IMG_3725.JPG https://lh5.ggpht.com/_YqZhzYNrxuY/T...0drift%202.jpg https://lh4.ggpht.com/_YqZhzYNrxuY/T...vo%20drift.jpg |
