My Diamond in the Rough
 

Recently got back in to the game. My first car was a 1985 Mazda Rx7 and it was a vehicle that had never left my mind. Its been 7 years since I had my first one. Too many memories in that car.

Putting clothes on at 1 AM? No one does that. I do. Up the stairs, out the door. Light up a Players regular. Oh, its raining. Unlock the car and get inside, sliding onto the cold leather. Pull out the choke and tuck in the seatbelt. Fire in cylinder None. Gentle hum of the Racingbeat Exhaust. Time to go for a drive.

No other car gives you the satisfaction that this car gives you. The look. The sound. The long gears pulling from beginning to end. The way it handles like a go kart on meth.

The car I just picked up is immaculate. Charcoal Grey. Original rims refinished. Red leather interior. Power mirrors and windows that work. Sunroof. Immaculate engine bay. 384 000 Kilometers on the chassis. 100K on the rebuilt engine. Original stereo with all lights and buttons in working order. Pacesetter Exhaust. All working interior lights and buttons. It came with a binder with all receipts for purchases and work done since 1985. This car was kept mint and maintained like a son of a. I even have the PDI slip, Warranty, Warranty for rust inhibitor and all those other things the stealerships sell you.

I dont think I have been this happy ever. Getting into it and driving where ever it may be is a joy and pleasure.

Starter was burnt out and not starting anymore. I replaced the starter and put new wiring so not it tries to start. But low and behold, the Teeth on the flywheel are also worn out. So this week i will be doing a starter among other things.

On a lighter not, I just got a Racing Beat header for free, along with a badass looking Mikuni Carb. What are these items worth roughly? Im curious. The guy I got them from has been working on Rx7s for more than 35 years and is getting to old for it and wanted to get outta it thats why I got the parts for free. :) Bonus.
